    Beautiful Red Oak

    Found a new wood guy recently. Asked him for some small mixed red and white oak to cook briskets this weekend. He had to split some smaller for me and he texted me this morning and said he had it ready so I went to pick it up. Instead of cash he asked if he could have half one of the briskets I’m making for this whole pile! Felt bad so I am doing a butt for him too. Hopefully he’ll tell all his friends and I can get a side hustle going again like I used when I lived up north.

      I just buy from the grocery store, I wanna say off Kings Hwy or Lane or something. It’s been a while because my last batch was brought down by friends.

        I've got a couple of those bags. Probably need to re stock. I also use CA Black Oak that I am occasionally able to harvest from our cabin up near Lake Isabella.

      this is what i get every summer in santa maria calif , only way to make santa maria style tri tip ! oh yeah gotta use suzie q seasoning too ! slam dunk !
