So about 3 years ago I woke up about 3 A.M. to the sound of a HUGE tree falling somewhere near the back of the house. Next morning I saw that a giant red oak had fallen from the other side of the creek. I had three friends with chain saws help me cut up just the branches which we then split and stacked. I wound up with 2 full cords just from the branches. There's probably about 20 cords left in the trunk.
Two days ago the back part of the tree which was dead fell down across the creek. That's the part branching out to the left. Not so big so it didn't take as long to deal with. Still got a lot more red oak and this stuff was ready to burn. In the photo you can see my helmet and saw up against the trunk for some scale.
So, yeah I've got a wood burning bread oven. But I can burn any kind of wood in that. Do I have a stick burner? Nope. Sure have the perfect wood for it though. I'm wondering if I can trade about $1500 worth of oak for a Yoder.
