I have about 1/4 cord of Texas Post Oak that we purchased and after splitting the wood several splits have a white substance inside the wood.
I was doing some research on the internet and was reading that was white mold and shouldn’t be burning it. The splits that have so called mold am tossing them in the dumpster. Would molded wood be safe to burn or should I keep throwing them away?
Safe to burn for what? I wouldn't cook with it. I don't think I'd use it for heat in an indoor wood burner. But I'd think it would be ok for an outdoor wood burner or maybe a camp fire.
The logs that have the mold am throwing them out if no mold is seen am cooking with it. Though mold MIGHT be inside that can’t be seen. None the less am cooking with it if no mold is seen.
