I have some alligator juniper from a recent firewood harvesting trip. To smoke or not to smoke?... That is the question.

I bought a mixed load of oak and juniper last week and while talking with the wood folks they said they use juniper often for cooking. I love the smell of juniper smoke, but I'm skeptical about using it for a smoking wood. However, after hearing these folks talk about using it I think I'll at least experiment a little.

Open air cooking maybe fine but I personally would not use it for smoking. Look down the list here for Alligator Juniper. https://www.wood-database.com/wood-a...-and-toxicity/
