    Citrus wood

Just curious, has anyone out there used Citrus wood for smoking? I've been told that any type of fruit wood could be used in a smoker. Not being sure thought I would go to the forum.

I've never used citrus wood per se, but I use a lot of fruit wood. (Apple and Cherry) If I were you, I'd use it. It will be just fine. I bet it makes for great smoking wood. Go for It!!!! I hear that it is great on fish or chicken. Your lucky to have such a source.

Just curious, what kind of citrus wood are you going to be using? Fyrray

Right down the road, about half a mile is a Orange grove that has been left dormant for years. Probably 5-8 acres, some dead and most alive but not producing fruit any longer because of lack of irrigation. Think I'll start inquiring about it. I know it is great firewood. Thanks for the input

I use it on fish and seafood. It has a mild smoke flavor.

I've used grapvine wood (not the thin canes, but the thick stalk bases) is that citrus enough? It was very good on pork but I've not used it lately. No lemon, lime or orange wood here. Peach, apricot and grape are as close as I've come to that end of things. Although you've inspired me, I think I'm going to put some orange and lemon chunks into my shopping cart at fruitawoodchunks.com...then I'll be able to answer that question in the near future.
