I use Cowboy and B&B briquettes and haven't had any problems. I'm not a lump user. From this thread it seems like lump is a common theme.

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.

Not me, but a fellow member named Flip43 found a true gem a few months ago:
Was firing up the PK to do some prime ribeyes this evening and found something very interesting in the bottom of my jealous devil lump bag. It felt heavy, and was completely covered in soot so I had to wash it off to figure out what it was. Looks like my bag of charcoal paid for itself. I did some google research and their lump
