    Kingsford Beercoal

There have been a lot of commercials on the local radio station the last few days for this. Not for me, but I thought I'd post it anyway. Maybe I shoulda posted this in the jokes thread, but it's actually real.

Where grilling dreams ignite! Kingsford's Home: Fanning the flames of tradition, serving up sizzling recipes, and offering the hottest charcoal and smoking products.

At least they didn't use Coors lite or PBR.

Someone posted this a few weeks or month ago. We were all pretty brutal in our responses. I'm waiting for someone to introduce cannabis charcoal, I'm sure it's next up.

That would be brilliant 'cause you might actually enjoy smoke blowing in your face, and then you would need some munchies, so you would have to cook more which would mean using more potcoal.

Does that mean I can use the excuse that "it was the charcoal, not me" RonB

It really shows you that marketing thinks we are stupid. I’m also sure that marketing will get their way and have miller lite advertise on their bag, purely for photos on the internet next to their can of beer,

You are almost correct Richard. Marketing departments are just hoping enough people are that stupid.

I have heard that irons for clothes now come with a warning to not use them on clothes while wearing the clothes. Those are the people that this product is aimed at.

I saw this here a couple of months back, felt it was an April Fool's joke, then walked into my local Sam's Club where they had pallets of the stuff on sale! Crazy! If it makes my food taste like PBR, I'm staying far far away from it!

Same! Saw them a couple weekends ago in our local Sam's. Had already saw the original thread on here, so I started laughing out loud. My wife was like "what wrong wit you?"

Sorry for posting this after it's already been posted, but, at my age, I don't remember what was posted yesterday much less several months ago...

Here's the original thread from last month. I did check, and I didn't comment in that thread. I'm thinking that it was yet another thread that I missed...

I have a pellet grill for quite a while, before that a Kamado. I do also have a Weber and if I am going to use the Weber I am going to use lump any additional "flavor" will come from wood chips or chunks IMO. Also, I believe that if there were are triple blind test not many if any could tell one pellet from another in spite of all the "options" and that a lot of us use smoke tubes that IMO could and probably do overwhelm the differences in the pellets if you use a different pellet in the tube. Charcoal should be lump

Great as an in store billboard. I can’t believe there is any beer taste in it. I might buy it if it was cheaper, but really a pretty dumb idea.

I saw it at the grocery store, where the regular Kingsford was looking like the bags had gotten damp. So I picked one up.

There are small wood flecks in the briquettes, and they produce a decent amount of smoke. I’ve had some mixed results in cooks with it. Where it works well are in short cooks, with no additional wood. Where it sucks is on longer cooks where you want to add a bit more nuanced smoke. Put too much smoke on some ribs, which is on me, to be sure. But for burgers and chicken breasts, works nicely, produces a decent smoke flavor. No appreciable beer flavor, but I guess you could say the same thing about Miller Lite.

wouldn’t buy again, unless I was in a pinch and it was the only option. A few pellets thrown on the coals work as well and give you more control.

I was looking at a bag of Beercoal when a guy came up and got a bag. He said it was great. I got some and will be trying it tonight. I have to say that that beer is not my favorite. We’ll see what gives with the briquets tonight. Salmon burgers here we come.

The salmon burgers were good, but I didn’t notice anything noticeable added by the beer briquets. I am glad they were on sale. Cheers!

Yeah, sorry. Miller Lite should be cold, and charcoal hot. I ain’t drinking the koolaid… er, charcoal.

In the Chicago Land area (Woodstock) they have a pallet outside at every Jewels. As noted the bags look like they got rained on.
Its 46 cents a pound, at Menards down the street 49 for regular Kford
Will wait until end of Oct and hit up store manager to sell whats left for 20 cents a #.
