    Hasty Bake Legacy, DC area

Hey, folks. I hope this is allowed from a new member — if not, I assume it'll be deleted.

My Hasty Bake Legacy (Model 131) is for sale. Because of dry leaves at my house, charcoal is, sadly, not an option for me. I've just ordered a new set of cooking grates and firegrate, so step right up for a lifetime of grate (haha) grilling.

The Hasty Bake is up on Craig's List HERE, and I thought I'd announce it on this board as well in case anybody is interested. I'm a reliable, honest guy and happy to answer any questions if I can. My email is my user name at gmail.

New retail is $1100. Asking price is $500. I'm in Maryland, just outside DC.

    Thanks!

Great price and an awesome pickup for someone looking for a Hasty-Bake but not wanting to pay retail prices. I'm 3000 miles away, so not really an option for me :-(

I was going to update the ad with interior pics once the Hasty Bake order arrives. Dunno if you read the CL ad, but the grates are all new (on order from HB), fire box is very good, the heat shield is excellent, and the ash catcher is rusted — but I figure most folks don't care, given its role (and it can be replaced for like $32 or something).

That said, if you're interested, I'm happy to provide current interior pics if you hit me at my username at gmail. Thanks!

Thanks for the nice remarks on the asking price... I know it's probably "worth" more than $500 — but only if a buyer knows what it is and wants it. If the right guy shows up, he'll know it's a deal, and we'll both be happy. But that's a bigger "if" than I'd prefer!

As I said when we bought a house many years back, it's "worth" exactly what somebody will pay for it... not a dime more and not a dime less.

Well that is to bad, but if all else fails, there are electric BBQ grills.

Hmm, if it were me I'd keep the Hasty Bake and buy a rake. Not really, I'm too lazy, I'd get a blower. And show my wife how to use it.

By the way, I've never really had a problem with sparks, etc from the Hasty-Bake. If you are concerned about the lighting process, skip the chimney and go to lighter gel under the firebox

Thanks, appreciate the perspective. I used it several times and didn't have much problem either — but there are a lot of dead leaves and since I live in the suburbs the grill is pretty close to our house. And that was BEFORE my father-in-law's house had a minor electrical fire last spring.

So now that I've seen how even a small fire can do terrific damage, and how much damn WORK it is for everyone, and how emotional it is to realize that you've lost things you love, and even in family that gets along with each other all the effort it takes to deal with insurance people and restorers and we-want-to-buy-your-house vultures... Well, I may be overreacting, but I'm sure you see my point.

Ummm, well my wife for one thing. I kind of like sleeping in the house. 😬 Seriously though, where do you live? I am tempted...
