Taco Tuesday gringo tacos (kind of). I found some store bought tortillas that I can't beat making them myself. The brand is La Tortilla Factory and they are amazing.

Agreed about La Tortilla Factory tortillas. So good! I get them at Fresh Market.

      Kathryn

My wife asked for spaghetti, so I had taken a jar of my all day red sauce, and added ground beef for her. For myself I took a bit of the red sauce tossed in some pasta, added in sardines, olives, capers, and topped Parmesan.

Side of garlic cheese bread from Sunday on the side for a plate mop.

It’s certainly not for everyone. I was going to go just sauce on my pasta, but last minute pivot, had me going with a riff on pasta puttanesca, with sardines instead of anchovies. It’s a hearty and bold.

I wish I had been there, with plate in hand. Yet another of life's little disappointments.

          Seriously though, it looks great!

          K.

I was in the kitchen baking bread this morning and the chill in the air made it feel right to go with a comfort meal.

I also happened to be testing out some new ciabatta rolls, so I made up a batch of Creamy San Marzano tomato soup to pair with it.

Nothing fancy but dang it was good! Fried poke chops, cabbage and a little corn on the cob. Thanks to gboss post the other day, I decided to cut a half pork loin into pork chops. For some reason doing that never crossed my mind. 🤷‍♂️ Talk about economical! A whole pork loin is always too much for me so this was the perfect solution. This is waay cheaper than buying them already cut up in the package. Did I mention I like pepper?

T-Bone Steak with Whiskey Pepper Butter

Seasoned steak and let come to room temp while the coals were lit and the grill came to temp. Seared a couple minutes on both sides then moved indirect until it reached 125°F internal. Let rest for 8-10 minutes on some Whiskey Pepper butter before slicing. Delicious along with a sip of bourbon! 🥃

This is just absurd. It's seriously so rich that the really lemony chimichuri barely cuts it enough.

All our children came home after college for a short time while they got oriented in the job market. Our last child has now moved up to Portland and the wife and I are true empty nesters . I always liked kids around the house.

So now I'm just cooking for two and below is a nice, little pot roast made in a 2 qt Dutch oven. Bought the DO 20 years ago and it has always just been used for making appetizers. It has a new life

Awww. That's a little bit sad. But happy that the kids are all out doing their own thing. You never get over missing them, though.

Who knew that little DO would reinvent itself?

            Nice meal, BTW.
