I've been a member about a yer but really haven't done any posting. I've had a BGE about 12 months now and would say I'm still learning but deg-finetly figuring it out. Any opinions on the BGE?

Welcome aboard from New York.
The BGE is an awesome cooker.
I’ve had mine for a little over a year now and it’s becoming my go to cooker.

Welcome from the mountains of NC. Keep diary of all your cooks. Weather, cooking fuel/amount, meat weight, etc. changes in weather, changes you make during your cook, amount of fuel you add and when, etc, etc. There are ones available for sale that are good on Amazon if you can't make your own make it as detailed as possible.
Get a good two probe remote thermometer. I have a Maverick ET-732 or you can get a newer Smoke. Both have been given Platinum medals by the good folks here.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I’ve had mine for about 8 years now. I bought a whole lot of accessories for it, but I only use the platesetter (now called the conveggtor) and something called a WOO ring, which elevates the grate to the opening and also holds the platesetter. Of all the other stuff, I sometimes use the Grill Grates.
Kamados (of which the BGE is one brand) are best known to be good at everything, but not the best at any one thing... or you could say they are the best at versatility.
Although I don’t take advantage of most of the versatility, lots of people do. They are known to be excellent pizza ovens, for example.
Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t two-zone cook on a BGE. You can. The zones are upper and lower rather than side by side.
About 3 years ago I added a Weber Kettle. As much as i love the BGE, the Weber is better for grilling; it starts easier, gets to temp fast, and has a larger surface area. I got the Performer, with the table and the gas start. Worth every extra dollar over the base kettle. And the extra cooking space is appreciated when cooking more than one item, like ribs in the BGE and chicken or burgers or dogs in the Weber.
