    Cast Iron plate setter

I need a plate setter for the BGE XL I recently purchased and stumbled across this. Does anyone have one and if so, what do you think? I like the fact that it can be used as a cooking surface as well.
This extremely versatile cast iron plate setter is perfect as a replacement or in addition to your original ceramic plate setter.

I don't have a egg but I use my griddles as heat defectors and then sear the steaks on them in the kamado joe. Works great for me

I have a XL BGE and use a woo and a ceramic stone instead of a plate setter. It is a much more flexible setup.

The woo almost never leaves my egg I can remove the stone and add a grid if I want to sear close to the coals. I can use the wood to raise my grid for raised direct cooking.

I am sure it would work just fine. A heat sink is a heat sink. I use a ceramic plate setter and it works just fine too. If you want to use it to cook on, go with the cast iron one. That is totally fine. I have heard a lot of cool things about the Woo as well.

Looks good. I have the ceramic plate setter, but we also have a round piece of cast iron to use as a griddle. Looks like you get both in one here.

I've broken two ceramic plate setters, even though after the first one broke I was very careful with the second one. I have to think cast iron would break, too, with a good jolt. I got the Spider and ceramic stone and never looked back. For the XL BGE you'd even save about $10, you just can't sear on the CGS stone.

Had that one on my BGE it worked great, and yes you can sear on it.
