So, I actually meant to order the stainless steel DnG and very quickly realized my mistake when I opened the box. I think I assumed the steel was the cheaper of the two. Anyway, I think I'll keep it as I always like cooking on cast iron but I'm curious how others like to use this thing. Smashed burgers comes to mind, as well breakfast (hash browns, bacon and eggs) but curious to hear other suggestions

Can't say how I like it yet, but my SnS kettle with cast iron drip pan just got delivered, so I hope to have something to say about it soon. FWIW, I went back and forth between the two and in the end preferred the fact that I don't have to worry about cast iron warping over hot coals.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
I have two of the stainless Drip 'N Griddles, and if I was buying one today, I would get the cast iron one instead. The cast iron would hold heat and be less likely to warp when used as a griddle, and will serve as well as the stainless when used as a drip pan. Stainless probably only has the advantage of maybe cleaning up a little easier.

It really depends on if you actually plan to griddle on it. If you just use it as a drip pan, nothing wrong with the stainless DNG. However, I warped one of my two by griddling over heat that was a little too high for it. Still works, just no longer quite flat. It rocks a little on the cooking or charcoal grate in other words. I don't see that problem happening with cast iron.

I want to buy a cast iron model but right before placing the order, I saw that it was made in china. That's a deal breaker. A short internet search for a comparable item came up blank.
Does any one know of a product like the SNS Drip N Griddle that isn't made in china?
