Upcoming PK Hibachi

I was just flipping through Franklin's new steak book. He likes the PK (so any owners out there may want to take a look.) But he mentioned PK is currently working on a Hibachi grill which sounds killer! Anyone out there have info on this?

If it is built like a PK with aluminum body and stainless grates I would say yes. Most hibachis wind up rusting away, theirs would last forever. If it had a cover that sealed like the 360 I'd be all over it, many times I'm cooking just a burger for myself, the savings in coals would be worth it.

In a 2015 web article Franklin (referring to the classic PK) makes the point you can break the grill down and put it in the dishwasher. I'd think that would be a good marketing angle if they make one.

The PK360 is a charcoal saver because it shuts down so quickly. CN is right...a lid would be nice.

BBQ with lots of grease would be a real problem in the dishwasher. Cool idea if it ends up being feasible.

Polarbear777 Yea the dishwasher comment raised my eyebrows for the reason you mentioned. One thing for sure is that your PK should definitely not go in there!

Franklin mentioned it again in his new steak book. "The design is poetically simple. The two halves of the shell fit together to make a box-shaped clamshell....you can even put each half in the dishwasher."

Perhaps he's referring to a commercial, assembly-line style dishwasher from his restaurant - I dunno.
