I picked up a used PK Grill a week or so ago. Any thoughts on how to clean the main body of it? It isn't in too bad of shape but could use a cleaning. The grates are easy but since the body is cast aluminum I am not really sure how to tackle it. My first go will just be soapy water and a scrub brush but if anyone has any secrets I am all ears.

Definitely clean it out before it gets wet inside and starts to corrode the aluminum. I had one 40 years ago (yes I am that old, got it for a wedding present from my dad) It lasted about 25 years.
It would get wet inside and the ashes and grease would be on the caustic side. It corroded the aluminum all the way through. If I had to do it over, I would have rinsed it out after every cook. Back then I would just close the vents and reuse the charcoal. I did not cover it.

Thanks for the ideas. Got some of the Simple Green cleaner. Got it clean enough!
And I will mostly be storing it inside so it shouldn't get too wet. If I do leave it out I have a cover for it as well. Looking forward to firing it up for the first time soon.

The above is an old post. Any Pkers out there have any newer and or different ideas on a deep cleaning for the 360? Min is 6 months old, and I clean out ash and such after every couple cooks, but other than the food grates, haven't done a deep clean yet. My old kamados would just "burn" themselves clean if you got them hot enough! Do you take them apart to scrub and rinse? What say some of you?
