    PK Grill

I keep see-sawing on whether or not to add a PK to my arsenal. I have a restored charcoal grill, a Horizon Smoker, 2 Santa Maria Style BBQs, and a Gas Grill.

My question would be, what will it do that you can’t already do with your existing arsenal? And if convenience is the issue would it make sense to use it to replace an existing grill? If you just want to have one and don’t mind the extra cleaning of one more grill, then get it if you have the space. I battle MCS all the time and the stopper for me usually is space and something else to take care of. My theory on MCS is that we just want the challenge and experience of cooking on a different grill. If we all had neighbors with different grills that we could cook on occasionally MCS might be extinct.

Mighty FINE looking setup you have there!

I’m with LA Pork Butt on this one johnardoin - the PK is a nice charcoal grill/smoker, but does it do something you cannot do with your existing huge arsenal of cookers? And do you want to give up space to it?

That restored grill reminds me of the ones my dad burned a lot of food on when I was a kid, except his did not have the shelf above the grill like that. I think the PK would be a lot better charcoal grill than the restored one to be honest, but then, you can direct grill on the Santa Maria, or smoke on your offset. I am down from 4 to 3 outdoor cookers at the moment myself, and am constantly battling MCS... good luck deciding!

EDIT: I can think of one reason to get the PK. To be able to charcoal grill of course, but also to smoke smaller cuts with less fuel consumption than in the Horizon offset.

Really nice patio/grilling area, love it !!! Very impressive job on that restoration project, that looks like it needs to be in some 1950's style museum !!! And yes you need a kettle or PK of some sort to round out your collection imo. That will give you just about all the flexibility you will need with your other cookers.

I'm rolling with Troutman on this one. I too am kicking around the idea of a PK. Mostly because of the unique and nostalgic lines, but for it's functionality as well. It wouldn't be a replacement, but an addition. However, my dream is the WSCGC so I might just have to wait on the PK. BTW, love the photo-bombing buddy and her no-doubt ever present stick and ball!

I would love to have a PK. Do I NEED one? No........but when has that ever mattered when buying swag for the patio?

I promise you won’t go wrong with the PK. I love mine and you can do anything on it. Just plain fun to cook on!!!

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I can do quite bit with what I got, i'm just a sucker for new tools. Plus, I think the PK looks so unique. It's definitely patio swag. I don't use the stove much anymore, so i'm going to dismantle the cart and stow the stove. that'll free up some real-estate.
My large SM style needs some work, when I try to crank it down, it's gets stuck. A hydraulic jack and some wood blocks should do it. Then I need to find someone that can sand blast and paint it.

Get one! They are awesome. Besides most of us are way beyond getting rigs that we NEED, most are because we WANT them. So indulge in MCS and feel better.

PK Grills just came out with a new cart for their original grill making it more portable than ever if you like taking your grill places. But if you have the space and portability isn't high on the list, I'd go with the 360. I have one and it is a great grill. johnardoin

I agree. The pk360 vents are super versatile and easy to use compared to many others.

My 360 is about even to a Weber kettle with slow-n-sear for direct grilling, but it can quality low and slow out-smoke anything else I have tried (kettles, pbc, pellet smokers of friends). It just needs double the capacity and it could be the end all.

PK's are awesome. But go with the PK360.

Is it better than the smaller PK.....no.

Is it better than the other grills you have....no.

Will it cook food better or faster than the grills you currently own....no.

BUT it will be the best looking grill you own!!! Those iron wood shelves are down right gorgeous.

I grill on my 360 about 90% of the time and always admire its beauty (and functionality).

and besides, if your asking with all that you have, you just want a new toy....
