I'd like to hear from people who have, or have used, a PK Grill. I was thinking of getting one to replace my tailgating grill for starters. It works great but it's Gas and last week while tailgating the wind blew it out 5 times. Thanks in advance...

I love cooking on the PK, it's great for just regular grilling and reverse searing. It doesn't take long to heat up and it cools down fairly quickly, though not as quickly as a Weber kettle.
If you really want a hot sear you can stand a couple of standard bricks on edge in the bottom and get the coals to about 2" from the cooking grate but be careful! It gets really hot, you can turn a burger into charcoal in a couple minutes doing this.
My favorite is using it for reverse sear, start with a small Weber chimney of coals on one side and 4-5 big burgers on the other over a drip pan. I'll let it go about 10 minutes with the lid closed and the top vent partially open over the burger side and then start another small chimney, when that's ready pull the burgers, dump in the fresh charcoal, give it a stir and 5 minutes later you're ready to sear.
Ash removal can be a pain until you figure out the best way is to just get an old paint brush and sweep it out the bottom vents into a foil pan. The drip pan also will catch the ash that falls out while you're cooking if you leave it there.
Do a search in this area, you'll find a lot of people here have PKs and there's some good info.
HTH,
Bill

Appreciate your response, can't wait to fire it up! I always love getting a new cooker and figuring out the best way to use them and learning all their nuances. Like I said, it's primary use at first will be for tailgating and that alone has me excited. Can't wait to start the practice cooks!

For tailgating? Look no further. The PK is perfect for that. I would love one of those little devils. Throw some grill grates in there and you'd be golden. Not sure if I would go with the Black or the silver model.Last edited by Spinaker; September 16, 2016, 09:57 AM.

I have the PK Grill (AmazingRibs Special) in Graphite color. I absolutely love it. My only quam is that I wish it was a little bit bigger. It sets up the 2 zone cook set-up perfectly. Retains heat really well and I can get mine to run 225 to 235 degrees Fahrenheit w/ only 26 briquettes of KBB for circa 2 hours on a moderate day...not bad.
