    New Toy: PKGO

I saw this on Craigslist. It was basically new in the box and never used. I think it was unpacked as some point since things are a little scratched here and there. The seller won it in a raffle and didn't want it. I got it for $200. Burning it in as we speak. I'll season the grates after that.

I'm still a bit confused on the grates. The review on the free side says "The heavy, coated cast iron cooking grates are reversible...", but they seem like just raw cast iron to me. Maybe they are coated somehow, but they sure are rough. Nothing like the grates on my Weber Q1400. Well, time will tell how they work out. I wish it came with stainless steel grates, but we'll go with the cast iron for now.

It's a fun cooker, oddly I found I can do low and slow easier with lump.

As to coating I th8nk maybe they meant the charcoal grates?

My two cents is cast iron grates every time, you got a good find there

Great little grill, think you’ll love it. It’s my go-to for doing a single whole chicken. Congrats!

And yeah, as ItsAllGoneToTheDogs has stated, the cooking grates are plain cast iron, so you’ll have to season those. The charcoal grates are porcelain coated.

Have been using this for a few years. It's the perfect grill for one or two steaks for my wife and me. The cast iron grate can be turned upside down, but there's little need for that. What I like best are the vents and the ability to extinguish the fire because it seals so well. Uses very little charcoal.

Congrats! I use mine more than any other grill/smoker I own. Quick to heat up, very fuel efficient, easy two zone set up. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine.

IdahoJim I just checked with PK. They say the cooking grates are coated cast iron.

Thanks Max Good. I already seasoned them according to PK Grills' directions in their FAQ at https://www.pkgrills.com/faqs/ . I guess that won't hurt. I still haven't cooked on it I need to soon...
