So, I've been in touch with PK. Long story short: this is not covered by warranty, due to it being the surface treatment ("paint"). Not very happy with that, as it clearly comes from underneath the paint, i.e. this shouldn't happen. But I'm not prepared to spend the time and fight them either. I just won't speak as well of the PK anymore. I talked to the shop owner (who was in contact with the Swedish exclusive agent importing, which in turn contacted PK in Louisiana), and he's always preferred selling the "old" PK models where there's just aluminum, and no color applied. I'm gonna have to agree with him, this is just sh*t. Anywho, the grill is working fine, so I'll use it as a steak machine. But again, not gonna recommend it to anyone, specifically if the colored ones are so sensitive.

That sucks, Henrik. Sorry to hear, was expecting a better outcome. Bad on PK.

That is very disappointing as a PK300 owner with the “color”. I would have also expected better for the price point and quality. I would also be unsatisfied with that excuse.

So, here's an update. First off, since PK wasn't very interested in fixing this I kind of forgot about it. But a month or so ago they reached out all of a sudden. Not sure why, but I suspect this was a bigger problem, and a lot more people than I had this issue. Word on the street is that they had production issues when applying the paint/color in the factory.

Either way, I got a brand new lid, and I also got around to swapping it out. I had to move the big handle from the old to the new lid, as well as the little plastic insulator tabs on each vent. But that was easy. I also drilled a hole for the Pit Viper fan that I had on the old one.

So, I guess that means this lil' PK is ready to rock again.

I am glad PK stepped up even if it took nearly a year. They did the right thing in the end.

Congratulations Henrik, good to hear. Curious, what did you mean by “word on the street” regarding their production issue? My PK300 is starting to do the same, so I’ll be contacting them, and any substantiation from others would strengthen the case.

Jessterr My local bbq shop/pk dealer in Stockholm mentioned this. And I guess it’s true since they told me that PK in Sweden contacted them. So it was initiated by PK.

It's nice when a company stands behind its product even if it did take nearly a year to do so.

Looks ready for some ribs, I'd say, Henrik ,

I've found their customer service exceptional! Twice now, they've replaced my intake tubes (PK 360) no charge, no questions asked, immediate delivery well passed warranty.

What happened to your intake tubes? Twice even.

It seems that the heat lossened the adhesive of the black handles. They would just "spin" instead of opening and closing properly. They kind of acknowledged that it was an issue, hence the no charge, no questions!

Many thanks for the update, Henrik. Very timely too, as I just recently discovered that my PK300 lid is doing the very same thing. Not as severe as in your case but it is definitely occurring, and this grill has been kept covered since day one. Will definitely be in touch with them very soon and provide response feedback to the board.

So glad to know they finally took care of you, even if it took them a year to get around to doing so.
