I have that PK. The one in the picture looks to be in good shape. Not used that much, but I would recommend getting a picture of the bottom, below the grate. The orange is just a reflection from an under used grill. Should have no reflection. $239 (with cover) is not a bad deal. Come back at $200 and see what they say. By the way, it is a great grill.

The old slide vents were prone to sticking and very hot. The new ones have handles and act like dials with marks and detents to let you more easily set air flow. The other big improvement is covers for the lower vents to prevent ash from falling through. Overall just a cleaner design in my view.

Henrik I noticed you upgraded as well. Any thoughts on whether the upgrades are worth it here? Or is there are mods that can be done to the original?

A couple more niceties of the new model versus the old is inclusion of a probe port, and the feature that the table folds down to save a bit of patio space during storage, if that’s of value to you, as it was in my case. In trying to decide on a purchase like this I look at how long I think I will own it, and calculate how much will it actually cost me per year to own over that period of time. Either PK might well outlast you as some of these things are still around after 50-60 years, so the next question would be whether I might regret going with the lower cost option initially but not having the better cooker to enjoy over many years. Budgetary constraints rule of course, as well as issues like whether there is a SWMBO to convince. That PKO looks like a good deal, and shows very little use, so it’s a tough decision for sure. You probably already know, but PK is currently offering 20% off the PK300 and 30% off the PK300AF in the charcoal color, just to add complexity to the decision.

Smokeware Cap

Thermapen
MAPP Torch
Charcoal: Rockwood, Wicked Good
Rubs: Memphis Dust, Mrs. O'Leary's Cow Crust, Dalmatian Rub

$240 is a great price! From the pictures it seems to be in good condition. The vents on the new model are nice, but I have the older model and adjust them using my grill grate spatula.

Alright. I watched a few videos and I am sold on the new PK300’s upgrades being worth the extra money. So unless new information comes to light, I am going to pass on this original.
