Looking for ideas to on how to manipulate temp probe cables out of the PK 360 without using top vent holes. Anyone have success? Pics?

I drilled a hole (Al is easy to drill) that would take the probe head and used a high temp silicone rubber tapered plug to seal when not being used.

Thanks! I've noticed none are rated above 600 degrees. Do yours rate any higher? And where'd you get them?

There are some k type that will go over that but I still just pull them out when I go high temp.
On the 360, the grate level old school thermometer gets you within ~50F so close enough to tell when running that hot. For the meat I just open and check with an instant read thermo. At that temp it won’t be a very long cook and you have to watch it pretty closely.

A couple of thoughts: While I don’t have a 360, based on web info it looks like one possibility might be to feed the probe wire(s) up through the clean out plug, making certain to keep the wires off to the non-fire side (assuming indirect cooking)? From what I can see it looks like the plug just sits in there loosely? Could be risky with respect to heat damage, but worst case would be to fry a probe wire in the interest of science. Maybe some aluminum foil loosely wound around the wire to provide extra protection? Secondly, I do find it amazing that PK haven’t yet engineered a probe port into their most expensive model. I have a PK 300 and PK GO, both acquired within the past year, and they each have really nice probe port assemblies built right in, so building one into a 360 should be a no- brainer for them. Might it be worth contacting PK to see if they would be willing to sell you the required parts from the PK 300? It would require drilling a couple of small holes though, which while easily done would likely void your warranty, I’m guessing, so that’s a consideration.

The 360 predates the other models and I’m sure they won’t retool just to add a probe port, at least until the update the 360 entirely.
In any case, the ash plug does seal tight and you want it closed to ensure air intake control with the vents. Wires down through the upper vent works fine if you want to leave it in stock configuration.
