I've had this idea for the last two weeks - what if I paint my hot box (custom built grill, just like the Chudbox) in British Racing Green? Well, why not I thought? So I ordered some quality car paint from a professional store, plus clear coat, and a spray gun. I've used one before, but haven't had any good ones, so I figured I should by something decent. I did, it's not awesome, top of the range, but better than the cheap crap I've used before. If it's fun, and I realize I want to spray paint other things, I'll upgrade.
Anyhow, stripped the grill down, sanded it, and got to work sprayin'. After 3 layers I let it dry, and then applied two layers of clear coat. I did buy the real deal this time, and I could tell that the clear coat was much better than what I've used before. And I'm still a noob when it comes to painting.
3 hours later, and here's the result. It's far from perfect, but with my skills I'm happy with the result. Here are some before and after photos.
Before

Got it sanded down and covered

The reasonably priced spray gun

Starting to apply some paint

Finished, all nice and clean (except for the inside)

And here's a full frontal :-)

Swapping out the handle for a stainless steel handle from Amazon added a bit more contrast with the paint, and it cost like 12 bucks, so happy with that.
