    Spider Grills "Giant" Huntsman

I have not seen this discussed on The Pit. If this is old news sorry.

    * New Giant Huntsman orders to ship mid June The New Standard of Kettle Cooking. Built from heavy-gauge steel and powered by Spider’s patented automated kettle technology, the Giant Huntsman smart kettle kamado grill and smoker delivers the bold flavor of real charcoal cooking with the control, consistency, and confide

These cookers are impressive in my opinion. Great addition.

At a quick surface glance through the link this looks similar to the Weber Summit Charcoal, but with electronics that Spider does well with, according to Meathead's review on their standalone controller.

DavidNorcross Me too! I hope we can get our hands on one to review soon.

I'm intrigued by this Giant model. The Venom that was already installed on the Performer I got from Meathead is 🔥. About as good for most purposes as my Fireboard, and I don't have to get it out of the box and plug it in each time I want to use it.

I've been using the "regular" sized one for about a year and a half, love it. Two things that are a tad annoying is the lid doesn't open a full 90 degrees (rarely causes a problem) and the grate height is lowish at around 31" (they sell a lift kit for an additional 3ish inches but my longer than average arms do fine). Takes a number of Weber accessories since it's the same diameter, probably would in the 26" version if there were very many.

I ordered one a few days ago...... I hope it arrives next week. I have a tracking number from something called TForce Logistics. Says it's on the way but it still isn't giving an expected arrival date.

I looked closely at The Huntsman when I was researching cookers. I like it

For that price tag, the Masterbuilt XT gravity feed is a better smoker. Although, I wish MB would forget about trying to call it a grill. There's something about grilling with indirect heat, that doesn't jive with me. If I'm searing a steak, I want it directly over coals.

This Huntsman appears to be able to grill and smoke. Only drawback for me, is its still charcoal/chunk .

DavidNorcross the one I linked, that sells for $1700 , its their beefed up version. Thick steel, better components. Its their answer to " cheap " .

Lynn Dollar agree. From what I read though the reviews are less than stellar. Don’t get me wrong, I want them to succeed. Their cookers are really good.

DavidNorcross ........... if I had not pulled the trigger on an Assassin gravity feed, I'd own the MB XT right now. I had a MB560, I got tired of waiting for an improved version. The XT is half the price of my Assassin.

Just in case anyone was wondering why Spider Grills calls it the Huntsman… I present the Huntsman, aka “the lizard eating spider”.
