I tried to search but couldn't find a thread with this new cooker. It's an intriguing design, especially with the front access to replace coals, albeit awkwardly. Of course, having a built-in fan temp controller is nice and the build quality looks stellar. Has anyone been lucky enough to get one, as part of a pre-launch? Curious what the good word is. Also, I'd love to know if SnS products will fit in here.
As my nest is emptying, I'm considering thinning my cooker flock through attrition. Which allows me to get a cooker more suited to 2 people and the occasional crowd.....
You won't find any "regular" people with one, only folks with cooking channels that can promote the product that has been in pre-release. YouTube has three or four that I know of. One guy who goes by Dawg Father has done several cooks that are interesting and helpful for those seeking knowledge. Horsman has done a few, but he's a bit quirky and doesn't always do evaluations that normal folks would follow, but he uses it so it's also helpful to watch what he does for the visuals.
As your attachment shows, it'll be next month before "real" units ship.
Looks cool and heavy duty based on the 5 YouTube videos that I have watched. I like having the built in Spider Venom blower for unattended overnight cooks.
Being a 22" grate grill, it looks like a number of the Weber, SnS, Vortex accessories will fit.
First one was a Vision, the most recent was a Grilla Grills Kong. Yeah, 100mph straight line speeds did it in. Going to be much pickier on a future setup. If I go Kamado, I will need some type of table to fit it in. Otherwise, steel seems appealing.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm intrigued. Having used (and loving) the Venom attachment on my Performer several times now, I'm having a MCS flareup for the Huntsman.
I've had mine for about a year and it's become my near daily driver. It does everything a kettle will do with the advantages of better heat retention and of course the temp controller features on top of it. Most of the kettle accessories fit fine so not much in the accessory world is unique. The units a shipped are a tad short in grate height but they offer an extension kit. I have longer arms so haven't gotten that mod.
We're perennially inundated with new products. Though I've recruited members of our team to help, we simply can't cover the million and one models available. Hope you understand. The good news is Meathead's thorough review of Huntsman's Venom Control System (Platinum Medal Winner) offers a great deal of insight.
I have seen nothing but good things about this cooker. Have you checked out Tom Horsman? His review is solid. Came very close but ended up purchasing a ceramic.
