I’m going to step in with my usual pitch. Give one of the larger kamados a look. I bought a Kamado Joe Big Joe I last year from Walmart for about $1.100. It does every thing I need it to. It will smoke 6 brisket points at once with room left over. I have no idea how many racks of ribs it can do especially with the add on rack above the standard one. It can do two zone cooking with ease and is a great grill. The BGE, SNS deluxe , Weber summit, Primo, or the Kamado Joe are all incredible cooker that can do most anything.

Interesting. I know a little bit about Kamado cookers, but not much. I should investigate. I lover versatility for sure.
Crazy question. Is it normal to maybe have a weber kettle, smoker and a kamado?
I see my collection growing.....

jasonwilliams14 It’s very normal. I have a Weber kettle, two Kamado Joes, one classic and a Big joe, and gave my stick burner to my BIL because I didn’t use it any more. Some of our members have 5 or more cookers because they enjoy the versatility and change of pace they offer. The selection is impressive you can cook with charcoal, propane, natural gas, wood , or electricity. Feel free to discuss any thing you are looking at with us. We love helping others spend their money!

Purc Very helpful and right along my thinking based on what you have mentioned. I to like the idea of hanging ribs, but cooking tri-tip, pork butt on a grate (kettle, WSM or OKJ)
I really appreciate everyone's help and info. It is great to hear from real world folks using these BBQ. It is tremendous insight for me.
I have an idea, I will end up with multiple grills at some point. It is just a matter of which order I start to buy them in.
Decisions time.
I will report back when I made my decision and purchase. I will start posting some pics as well.
Ty very much everyone!

Good luck with your decision Jason! You’re the ideal new comer to The Pit, you start right out telling us you want a new smoker and ask for advice! We love helping folks spend their money! 😂

It's our pleasure at The Pit to help you deal with MCS. We all have it and It's great to have options. I was smoking a pork butt on the Weber Kettle, and we want to grill hamburgers for lunch and that convinced us we needed 2 cookers of some sort. I asked The Pit and ended up with the Bronco. I am very pleased that I now can grill and smoke at the same time. Whatever you chose, remember we love pictures of smokers, grills and your cooks.

Thank you again. Yea, this is really fun for me and relaxing. I work in a fairly stressful environment and cooking/grilling/bbq just removes all my stress and relaxes me.
I see you are looking for a griddle. I kinda want one as well. There are quite a few to pick from. Is there a better option? A full griddle vs half?
Breakfast on the kettle sounds super fun!

jasonwilliams14 Here are pictures of the OKJ Triple Grate on my Bronco. As you can see the Bronco can smoke a lot of food with this accessory. I think it's a great compliment to my Weber Kettle w/SnS and Vortex.Last edited by Purc; October 11, 2023, 06:11 AM.

STEbbq To hang the ribs, I removed the deflector plate as shown by the wheel on the top picture. If I was only doing a butt or wings etc, I would have the deflector plate in over the coals for a more indirect cook. You can put that deflector plate in upside down, replace the Triple Grate with the standard grate and actually use the Bronco as a grill.

Cookers:
WSM 18.5
Weber Genesis NG
Grilla Silverbac
Traeger 575
SNS Kettle
Accessories:
Thermapen
Signals X4
I have the 18 in WSM that I received from my company. Good to have when I need it but I don’t use it often enough. Since it was free I love it but it’s a little on the small side. I also have a kettle and Grilla Silverbac pellet smoker. The Silverbac gets the most use simply for convenience. For example, on Saturday night I decided at the last minute to buy some beef ribs that were on sale. However I had errands to run Saturday night and didn’t have the time to get either my WSM or kettle up and running. So the silverback won out. So my advice……why not both?

I of course vote for the PBC (great portability and volume) with an excellent price point. A good way to get into barrel cooking to see if you like it. There is nothing like the flavor from meat juices sizzling on a fire, IMO.
I also love my WSCGC because it is easy to move around and is quickly responsive to temperature changes (as opposed to ceramic kamados which can break), holds set temperatures beautifully, and has that nice 24" grate, which does not have as much temperature variation as the 26" Weber, from what I hear. The best thing of all is that you can use it either as a kettle or as a kamado, so with it you've got a nice larger kettle plus all of the convenience and reliability of a kamado, your choice.
When entertaining, I often load up the PBC along with the WSCGC. I use the 22" kettle or the PBC for smaller family cooks.
You really can't go wrong with any of the models you are considering, but if you have the $$ then the WSCGC would give you the convenience of an extra (larger) kettle and the versatility of a kamado at your fingertips.

Thank you very much. This gave me a lot of ideas and things to think about.
Your point about using the PBC alongside another grill/bbq is really what I was going through my mind. It opens up more options for me to cook a variety of things, all at once. Could be a small group or a big group, but having that flexibility is very nice feature to have.
I will look into the WSCGC. I need to learn more about the Kamado type grills. I am very young in my education.
Thank you again!

You might wish to start another thread Jason if you are serious about a standalone griddle as the discussion here might get confusing!
On a standalone basis, this one looks pretty impressive:
The Traeger Flatrock griddle is more expensive than most griddles, but unique features and build quality set it ahead of many competitors.
Otherwise, you can get some Grill Grate Griddles that would fit on your existing or new purchases.

If you know you will have multiple cookers eventually, I would buy each one for a specific style of cooking.
My kitchen:
48” stick-burner because for me, low and slow brisket, ribs, and pork is an all day babysitting affair.
PK 360 Charcoal/wood chunk grill for 2-zone, hot-and-fast chicken, and reverse sear steaks.
36” gasser with a ‘smoke tube’ for large simple grilling requirements and rotisserie.
That big gasser will do lots of burgers and dogs. Throw in 20-30lbs of brisket and/or pulled pork on the offset (cooked the day before), and I can feed a lot of people. 😎
Hope you have great fun exploring, testing, and tasting the options. 👍

More and more grills have all-in-one functions. Between all-in-one grills and multiple grills with separate functions, which one would you choose?

For me, none of them. All-in-one really, to me, means master-of-none.

I agree with realdocBBQ. I would rather have different cookers for different jobs. If you have to pick just one, however, I would go with a kettle grill. Weber and Slow N Sear make good ones. They're very versatile.
