Which Grill Cooks the Best Burger?

Interesting test with somewhat of a surprising conclusion. What do you prefer to have your burgers cooked on?

Its not the cooker, its the cookee...

Edit: The young girl tester knows her stuff!

Griddle for smash burgers, preferable on that sits on the Weber so I can get some smoke flavor.
For thick burgers, directly over coals.

There isn't one of these I wouldn't enjoy.

Seems to me, that since this is supposed to be a "burger taste test", the test should be burger only, no bun or seasoning, and testers should be blindfolded to eliminate aesthetics, and should not know what types of cooker they were done.
Seemed more like a cooker test than a taste test to me.

The seasoning was added just to plug "their" seasoning.

Not a fan of these types of tests.

Interesting test! I haven't done anything OTHER than a smash burger at home in several years. I flipped some pre-made patties on a propane event grill at church back in May, but those things started about as thin as a smash burger anyway...

I am going to go with seasoning and cooking to a proper temp, regardless of the grill, are going to turn out a great burger.

Exactly what I think. I did boiled burgers a few weeks ago, they were great. Just depends upon what you fell like. But, cook them wrong, and not good. Otherwise, great.

Mark. ‘Boiled’ or ‘broiled’? HUGE difference….

You can use some of that boiled bacon on the boiled burger.

Well, they guessed wrong on what “grill” they thought the patties wuz cooked on about half the time. A griddle is not a grill. Other than that I hoped they enjoyed eatin thru their experiment.

My personal favorite is the pellet grill. Burgers and meatloaf are a couple of my favs to cook on it. Like the extra flavor versus the gasser or griddle.

I know more folks are all about the Maillard, but at least on my pellet grill I've come to enjoy lots of things smoked only to include prime rib. I do still like to sear some stuff but burgers, brats, bacon, meatloaf, etc I greatly enjoy smoke only until perfect IT (or in the case of bacon, when it's done). Steaks I'm 50/50 on, it really depends on the cut if I prefer one way or the other.

I've tried every which way with all the cookers I have and my 2 favorites are pellet cooker for a little bit of smoke but not a lot @ 275-300 and then seared on whatever, or smash burgers on the flat top, that crispy-yet-dripping-juice burger is soooo hard to beat.

My favorite tastes in descending order: 1) Santa Maria grill (open flame); 2) Smashed on a griddle/CI pan; 3) Kettle with a couple of wood chips.

What I do mostly: pretty even between the griddle and kettle.

So the answer is: whatever cooker ya got and by the way: buy this beef, use this temp checker and our seasoning….🤔🤔🤔

which IMO is a great result for our hobby/passion. It means we're all right with what we got in our arsenals despite what some other forums (with more snobs) may say

What is great about a burger is that’s it’s delicious if you grill it over coals, smash it on a griddle or smoke it on the cooker of your choice. I enjoy them any way they are cooked.

Burgers are one of the all American foods that are good no matter how you cook them.

There are lots of ways to screw up a burger, but what to cook it on isn’t one of them. Once you know what not to do, you can cook them on just about anything. Even boiled:
