Napoleon Rogue 5 Burner after 1 Year

I still really like the Rogue, but I have found that it sucks in any kind of strong breeze. It’s okay with burners on high, but anything lower and the wind will blow the burner out. The build is great quality. Very robust. Although the deflectors or flavorizer bars are all over rust already. And the individual ignition on each burner is bullcrap. It takes two or three tries to light the burners. It does get Plenty hot. Overall still very satisfied with the grill. Just a few quirks. Sear burner is wow! Hot mojammer

Edit: I realized that the burner blowing out
may be due to the placement of the grill. The prevailing winds blow long ways across the grill. If I turn the grill 90 degrees so the back of the grill faces the wind,
    it is much better.

That is good feedback, thank you for contributing. I'd say that is good to know, considering the expense of that particular brand, overall.

I fear I will be in the market for a gasser in the somewhat near future, since my 2006ish Summit 6 burner is showing signs of wear that may require a replacement of some innards. So far it's chugging along just fine.

All my near neighbors have Napoleons and swear by them, but they don't cook like I do, using my outdoor kitchen several times a week. The Summit has been so reliable, not a single issue with it that was not pilot error.

Nonetheless, I feel I should look at Napoleon gassers as well, so thanks for the input, Thunder77 .

GolfGeezer That’s what I’ve found as well. Not really needing to replace my 2005 Summit, but I have seen the latest iterations of the Summit line and they’re just not the same. I’d most likely look at the Prestige Pro line if/when I’m looking for a replacement.

I’ve recommended the same to friends. They love my Summit and think about getting one, but I tell them that the new ones are worlds apart. And not in a good way.

One nice thing about Weber grills is that Weber sells parts for most everything they have ever made. I have rehabbed some gassers that are 30 years old and made them run well. Also, igniters benefit from disassembly and cleaning with a wire brush. The igniter on my Weber Performer stopped working. It is about 15 years old. I was just going to order a new part but then I decided to remove and clean the igniter. Well, after a little brush job with a bronze toothbrush size brush, it sparked again.

briano52 Yes, parts are great…and maintenance is pretty straight forward.

But…IMO anyway, the new Summit’s simply don’t live up to earlier ones…especially given the price. For what they charge, it really should be a premium grill…and the last few I looked at fell well short of premium. Bigger yes…but not premium in build quality or materials. I still love my 2005 Summit Platinum D6, but probably won’t replace it with a Weber.

But then that’s why it’s easier to resurrect a 15-year old Weber.

I have the Prestige Pro going on 3 years and it’s still working like new. No issues with the burner lighting.

If and when it comes time to replace my 2005 Summit Platinum D6 (what a ridiculous name) I will probably look first at the Prestige Pro line.

The latest Summit gassers don’t impress me.
