DavidNorcross Just out of curiosity, I dug around a bit about the two companies. Here is what I found:

"Based in Atlanta, Ga, Char-Griller® is a recognized leader in gas and charcoal grills and smokers. Since 1994 , Char-Griller has been developing innovative and affordable grills and grilling accessories. Grills such as the Super Proâ„¢, Duoâ„¢, and AKORNâ„¢ have been the foundation of our brand that continues to change how America grills. Implied USA built, but not confirmed.

Masterbuilt is a Private company. John McLemore is the President & CEO of Masterbuilt and has an approval rating of 54 from Owler members. Masterbuilt's top competitor is Spark Grills, led by Benjamin West, who is their Co-Founder & CEO. Products made in China. Large investment from Dominion Capital, also having the brand/grills Kamado Joe."

    Made in china https://www.ledger-enquirer.com/news...183114471.html

While I get the desire to buy made in America, you're not going to get that at anything close to this price point. Personally, I don't care where things are made anymore. The computer you're typing this on was almost certainly made in China and how many of us spring for made in USA cloths or even check the source?

Now, for a stick burner or high end grill? Absolutely going made in US but that's less caring about the country it's made in and more my desire to support smaller businesses.

Even Weber who assembles things here says this:

MANUFACTURED LOCALLY WITH CARE USING US AND GLOBALLY SOURCED COMPONENTS

    Note the last bit

I look at the labels when I can and if possible purchase Made in USA when available. Also agree about helping the small business owner and buying local whenever possible.

The new release that masterbuilt has made look good...looked it over at Academy..
The one thing for sure this thing will cook.
thats the bottom line...i will bet the char grill will do the same..darn good cooking..
I wont buy one mainly because i have way 2 many pits now..14..and all i modified one way or another....heck been way to long since ive fired up the green egg..gotta do that soon

i would like to see Amazing Ribs compare the 2 ..be great..

all it has is a slide out grease cup..so i think it would require me to clean out the inside more..which i allready do..but its easier to line the tray with foil and clean..
again i like the manifold on the Camp..better i think...be very interested in a unbiased compare...

the removable fire box..is just that the intire thing comes out from the top..they call it tripled lined..so my thinking is the housing is one..and the removable fire box is 2 sided so that makes it triple..has the same fire bricks i bet..so i am curious how well made the box is..will not ne long before someone improves on that..
and it only has 2 switches..not one on cooking chamber..

We're hoping to get the Char-Griller GF soon, but they, like everyone, are experiencing supply issues.
