    Best LSG Accessories

This goes out to all my fellow LSG ACGS owners out there - particularly those with more than my 1+ year of experience with it:

What would you say are the best accessories to get for the pit? I've been looking at the fire management basket for "offset mode" (not sure which size would work best), and the charcoal basket for longer cooks. I've considered the ash tools, but I don't know how much I would use them - I currently use a small garden hoe to break up spent coals into ash to collect them in the ash pan.

My wife had ordered this for me in 2023 as a gift, so she was not aware of being able to get dual thermometers or having fan ports drilled in the back, so I don't think I can get a thermostatic controller to work very well as is. That said, I'm not sure how much I would even use it, as this pit tends to stay rocksteady once it is dialed in - but it might have been nice to have. :-)

With that in mind, please feel free to share anything you use on a regular basis that I might be missing - either from LSG or someone else. Thank you for any insights you all may be able to provide!!!

I wish I could help by owning one of these babies!

Steve B should be able to help you out though. He owns a gorgeous LSG.

Would love to be of more assistance but mine is an offset so I’m not really familiar with the ACGS’s

    I suggest a PBC!

    Sorry.

I was looking at several drum smokers (PBC, Hunsaker, Gateway, Cotton Gin) when my wife surprised me with this pit. Now I'm just focusing on continuing to learn this cooker, and add any accoutrements that might help me with that education.

NumbWhistle , Steve, I've had my Lone Star ACGS since March 2021. It is definitely a Beast. It's large capacity and ability to adjust for different types of cooking/grilling is what drew me to purchase it. I ordered mine with SS Grates, Dual Thermometers, SS Side Shelf, Large Casters, Fan Ports, and a Fire Poker. Later I purchased the Fire Management Basket for Wood Only Fires on long cooks. The Charcoal Basket came standard as I recall? The Fire Poker is the only accessory that I rarely use...IMO I would use the Ash Rake more if I had it. The FMB works great for offset cooks but I usually use the Charcoal Basket for large/long cooks instead as I don't often cook with just wood. The Fan Ports are nice when I use the BBQ Guru from my BGE on longer cooks. I bet you could add those if you talked to the LSG people. Sorry my comments got a little long. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback-very helpful! What size Fire Management Basket did you get? The Charcoal Basket did not come with my pit, but I've been seriously considering ordering one soon, particularly since it's only $35 and I can't think of any reason to get two of them. I'm hoping to make one order of everything I would want to add to my pit so I only pay one shipping cost. I have to fly cross country to a memorial now, so my order will likely be delayed due to the unforeseen cost of the trip

My Fire Management Basket measures about 12.5" overall length. I don't think I'd ever use 2 Charcoal Baskets. Good luck with your decision.
