What cleaner is the best for your stainless steel Hasty Bake?

    Hello everyone,

What cleaner do y’all use to clean your stainless steel Hasty Bake? I currently use Weiman’s Stainless Steel Cleaner with a Scotch Brite pad. It works okay but still takes a lot of elbow grease. I have been wondering if there is something that will cut the grease better than what I am using?

I’ve had good luck with this. Liked it so much I posted about it here a few years ago.

Thanks for reposting this link. We moved this summer and *finally* got rid of the stash of Weimans we had. Couldn’t find my note about this and was too lazy to search…great timing on your part for a repost! Now it’s time to try Triniva!

I’ve switched to this. It is a fantastic cleaner.

Talk about peer pressure. This is now in my Amazon cart. I had no good luck at all with Weiman's having had the same experience you shared about it leaving streaks. With any luck at all this will not only work on my kitchen stainless, but also on my outdoor cooking stainless. Thanks!

Thanks for your input. I have a bottle of Trinova on the way.

I use a Scotch Brite pad with Weiman’s. It lowers the elbow grease factor by four anyway. It is no more abrasive than Barkeeper’s Friend.

Has anyone tried some sort of oven cleaner.

I am talking about cleaning the outside of a grill, not indoor appliances. It does not have to be spotless.

The image below will illustrate what I am cleaning. You can see how the area cleaned looks compared to what I am cleaning. Has anyone tried oven cleaner?

      Grits.

I use this Goo Gone on the SS hood on my MAK Pellet Grill. It works pretty well on those stubborn stains. Click image for larger version

I bought a can of this and it works great. Spray on, wipe off. Wear gloves.

Good luck - it's caustic so it can damage certain finishes. As always, try it on an inconspicuous spot first before going whole hog. And seriously, wear gloves.

You could wipe forever using a rag and still would note get it I look forward to using the “Oven and Grill Cleaner”.

I have had good luck using a Scotch Brite pad. It does take some elbow grease but it does work You will find an image of one below. It also polishes the metal without harming it. Hopefully the Oven and Grill cleaner will work and point will be moot.

jtw. The Breakoven and grill cleaner.works. It is in a class by its self. Spray on the dirty area and then wipe it and all the gunk off.

            I tried “WD-40”,:”Wemans”,
“Goo Gone”, Breakup oven and grill cleaner”. WD40 and Goo Gone were useless. It would not work. Weiman.s would take off the gunk applied with a Scotchbrite.

The Break-Up oven and grill cleaner worked great.

Thanks for all the advice. It is very much appreciated.

          My TriNova review:

I’ve used many stainless steel cleaners over the years, but they always either left me wanting or made me work too hard for the results.

Trinova stainless cleaner is not only the easiest to use, with very little elbow grease required, but the results are truly the best. Wish I found this stuff years ago…or even just bought it the first time Panhead John recommended it!

          Stop reading reviews…just buy it…now!

I use Easy Off after I get the thick crud off my built-in AOG gasser with a plastic putty knife.
Can’t use too much water there. Cleans everything almost back to original.
Paper towels and then clean water in a spray bottle to wipe it down. 4 years so far, no signs of corrosion from the chemicals.

Hulagn1971 - the grates are a challenge, but the sides etc just about wipe off clean. I cannot hose it down because it’s in the counter. This method uses the least amount of water.

As far cleaning the inside of SS Hasty Bake, the stuff I have read indicates that shiny SS makes contoling temps difficult to control so HB owners go out of their way to cook fatty foods to get rid of the shine on the interior of their SS grills. If you do clean the inside, I'll be interested to hear your experience.
