Ain’t seen one like this before!

Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_4862.jpg Views:	83 Size:	112.1 KB ID:	1513815 Picked up another Hasty Bake this week. It’s a Continental or possibly a Dixie Bell depending on when it was manufactured. The very curious feature is that it has an installed oven element under the top rack. From my findings Hasty Bake only made one patio model “The Hot Rod” which was a much more compact and portable sized cooker. The Hasty Bake Community on Facebook will hopefully be able to shed some light on if this was a factory prototype or a home “improvement”. If it was an home improvement it was done very well. The person I bought it from said they purchased it brand new from their neighbor 4-5 years ago and judging by the fire box I am inclined to believe him. Either way I look forward to plugging it in and seeing what temperature it wants to try to hold. I thought I would share pictures of this quirky cooker!

I am betting you can still get parts.

      Absolutely!

I'm sure it's a standard domestic oven or broiler element, but it is 120vac. If you can't find an exact match anything close would work. Looks like a fun project.

I'd encourage you to contact the folks at HB directly to verify history. While the folks I've seen comment on the FB page seem a bit more informed/committed, FB remains a pit of misinformation too often. A lot of it might be well meaning folks who don't know what they don't know, but it isn't always easy to separate the knowledgeable from the bs artists..

Uncle Bob I’ve got an email in to the fine folks at HB as well. And you are soooo right about the amount of BS artists out there lurking around!
