WSM owners- help me answer this

A person on the main AR site wants to know roughly how long the 22" WSM will maintain temps w/o reloading coals, ballpark. Obviously this varies with chosen temps, but let's say 225ish.

    Thanks

I have exceeded 12 hours running between 225-250 in mine without adding any more charcoal. I fill the charcoal ring nearly to the top using a little less than a full bag.

Thanks Zman23, I'll pass this on! Just confirming this in the big 22" one?

Yes Huskee, 22" using minion method.

If you Minion, nearly a full 20 pound bag will go in, and I've kept temps for 18 hours. A few hours in, you have to really choke the vents back to keep the temps in line.

I switched to Fuse Method, and not load as much coal in there (at or below the level of the ring) so I can keep the vents open more, cleaner fire & better smoke ring, but the downside is I have to add fuel around hour 9.

      Fun Fun Fun!

I only have the wimpy 14.5 so I can't help with this. Don't get me wrong though, the 14.5 is one hell of a cooker.

Well, when you have a Lang I am sure a WSM has much less appeal.

I have gotten 12 hours. Add a guru and you can probably go longer.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Napoleon’s 22″ Pro Cart Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It’s hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the 22″ Pro Cart a viable alternative.
