As a Texas native and a die hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys the past couple days have been rough. In order to cheer myself up I was looking through some funny pictures on my phone and came across these ones that I had meant to post last week. To celebrate the fact that my boys even made the playoffs and for a bit of luck I cooked up a brisket and all the fixin's that reminded me of home (fried okra, my mother's bean recipe, and corn on the cob on the PBC). The best part of everything was that my wife and I got to share the good food with a friend who had never gotten to experience the sheer ecstasy of tasting brisket in any form. I present to you the journey of my brisket from rub to plate. I offer these pictures up to the will of those 53 men who exhausted themselves against the Seahawks of Seattle for my enjoyment and their eventual victory. Alas, I had to work this past Saturday and we all know what happened. The moral of the story is that I need to make a brisket for every Cowboys game day. That is a challenge I am happily ready to embrace. Now, without further ado here are the pictures.

Good looking brisket. Next time you get to feeling down about the boys, think of me. I am a Lions fan... There isn't enough brisket on the planet to get those guys to get to the playoffs, let alone win a playoff game.

Great looking Brisket, but you had me at "fried Okra." If it makes you feel better, I'm a Jaguars fan.
