    Another "Barrel-head"

For a while now I have been using my little 18" Weber kettle grill, "Rudy", and doing fine. But I've struggled to fit certain things on there (like ribs), and can't really do as much as I would like to sometimes. So I started looking for the solution and have changed my mind a few times over the past 4 months as I've researched different grill and smoker options.

I have spent hours reading posts in the charcoal cooker sub-forums. And, in doing my research I believe the PBC to be best suited to my needs. I have relied heavily on information, photos, and advice from PBC pros like fzxdoc Jerod Broussard and Spinaker (and so many others!) so thank you once again to this great community for how willing you all are to share of your time and information.

I am happy to say that I purchased my Pit Barrel Cooker this morning and am now a rookie "Barrel-head." My first cook on it will be some ribs (cause that's what I haven't been able to fit on my 18"), but I'm also really looking forward to smoking a turkey this fall!

Congratulations! It's a fun piece of BBQ equipment IMO. Start by following the videos over on the PBC site for lighting and cooking. If you find you are having any kind of issues with temperature control, etc, this forum will be a great resource. I highly recommend the "Light my (PBC)" thread at the top. It's really long but full of great tips and tricks. Good luck!

FireMan, I discovered a month ago they don't block this site at work. My productivity will suffer. At least my work productivity will. That and I have a direct link to the PBC forum as a browser bookmark.

Same here, put two slabs of SLS ribs in my virgin PBC, got humongous plumes of thick white smoke. Checked it after a couple of hours, and those ribs were about to fall off the bone. The PBC rocks.

Congrats brother. I'm really glad you were able to find a way to expand your cooking arsenal. I don't have one. But I know you're gonna love it. Can't wait to see some pics when you get it.

I've had two different people (friends and family) already offer to BUY the ribs if I'll cook them on the PBC and invite them over! This thing is already starting to pay for itself.
