    Pulled the PBC Trigger

I ordered the PBC yesterday morning and the anticipation has started. I had no plans of buying a cooker this year (or even next). At the top of my "Next Cooker Purchase" list was the Rec-Tec. Buying the Rec-Tec had many stipulations attached including a substantial "Need to finish around the house" list. With the pace I am moving, it was forcasted that I would be getting a Rec-Tec after the year of perfect eye sight.

I was happy with the cookers I have and content with the long off date for my next acquisition. Then I did something stupid and joined this group. Even though my contributions have been near nil, I read a lot on here, a lot. With all the awesome recipes, tips, suggestions, and articles, the one thing that really really piqued my interest above all was the PBC.

At first look, there are lots of things to like about this cooker and the company who produces it. Above all, I love chicken; either fried, roasted, grilled, smoked, etc, I can eat my weight in yard bird every month (I'm about 235 lbs). There are some great recipies and methods for preparing chicken but my favorite is a smokey/grilled taste with crispy skin. I've done real well with my gas grill and smoke tube, but the PBC appears tobe made to make what I crave the most perfectly. For one, no matter the method, to be perfect, charcoal has to be used. So there is no mystery what my fist cook will be - with a bowl of Alabama white ready to go.

Next on my "Favorite Foods to Devour" list, come ribs with pulled pork nipping on the heals; two meats that also appear to be great PBC cooks. After reading many posts within this subgroup, I do look forward to many other different cooks then my usuals like turkey and beef cuts. Lastly, I think it is awesome that my PBC with arrive with my beloved Eagle, Globe, and Anchor affixed to the side. I hope to update soon.

You are gonna love this cooker. Have to agree with Jerod Broussard that this is the best money I've ever spent on BBQ equipment. Dollar for Dollar you just can't beat the PBC. The company that makes it is great as well and I love supporting veteran businesses. Look forward to stories and pics of your upcoming cooks. Thanks for your service, and don't be a stranger! I love this site as everyone is super helpful and kind. Stick around and have fun!

I got mine back in January and it is without a doubt one of the best purchases I have ever made. Welcome to the family!

May I suggest St Louis Ribs as your 1st cook!! I did a Chicken and it came out good, But Ribs are the cookers natural cook!! I was doing ribs the 3,2,1 method (yes it made some tasty ribs to be sure) but just hang the ribs on the PBC and 3.5 to 4 hours later shazam They are done and very Tasty! I did mess up my 1st try at ribs on the PBC but I'm just special that way. Most everybody else wont have any problems!

One tip from my first rib cook on the PBC, jlhilden Don't do the bend test OVER the open PBC. Almost lost half of that rack to the fire gods!

Congratulations! First let me say, I am a huge Big Green Egg guy, in fact I own three. That being said, the ribs that come off a PBC are UNBELIEVEABLE! Now, I've make killer ribs on my egg(s) but nothing like what comes off a PBC - in fact, I probably will never do ribs on the egg again.

You just made a fantastic purchase!
