What Is Your Favorite Comfort Food(s)?

In another thread regarding grilled cheese sammies the subject of comfort foods came up.

When one of my family members was going through recovery from an intensive surgery successfully within our linked emails we hit upon the subject of comfort foods.

We had great fun as then everyone chimed in and they all had their best choices formally announced.

    Some were pretty weird although.

For me there are a lot; Grilled cheese with Campbell's tomato soup. Italian Beef Sammie's dipped of course, combo Italian Beef w/ Italian Sausage dipped of course, Swedish Meatball Cassourals (sp)? and etc. to name some.

Like you, I just can't name one. My comfort foods are: my mom's stuffing (I'll eat it by itself), macaroni and cheese, grilled cheese sandwich with Campbell's tomato soup, deviled eggs (family recipe), meatloaf, and sausage and cheese kolaches.

      Does beer count??

Obi-Dan deviled eggs are great. Recipe would be nice if you're willing to give it up.

SteveB I will get it from my mom again. I realized over Thanksgiving I can't find it. She still makes them. It's not special but everyone loves them.

ID:	245147 The burger at this restaurant. It's a big house ground steak patty cooked to your liking (med rare for me) with cheddar, bacon, veggies and their house burger sauce (similar to glop). If you are ever in Calgary, Alberta it's a must have.

Too many to think of all at once!

Bones, how about some Nicely fried cast iron Browns? Ever tried it with duck fat? You will never want to eat potatoes another way again. I buy it through US foods. (the duck fat)

Everything Mr. Bones just said, and adding oyster soup, beef roast with all the trimmings, and stuffed green peppers. Crap, now I gotta go cook, and it's almost 1 am.

Fried chicken is #1 on my list. Corned beef hash with eggs over medium and rye toast is right up there too.

Peanut butter and honey sammich on whole wheat bread. Just can't be beat! Next up would be New England clam chowder, with Pepperidge Farm goldfish on top. BACON!

Lots of what's already been mentioned, and don't forget the mashed 'taters and gravy.

What kind of gravy? I love thick, brown gravies. Or sometimes I use a sausage gravy. Like what you'd put on biscuits and gravy for breakfast.

              Mine is a strange one.
Liver and Onions cooked the way my Grandma cooked it.
              In a white sauce.
My wife REFUSES to touch liver and I'm not allowed to touch kitchen appliances. Two little incidents years ago effectively got me banned. It had to do with frying my other favorite which is bologna in and expensive stainless steel pan (two of them actualy. What is it about stainless and bologna that doesn't seem to want to get along?
I do have one local place that makes liver and onions so it is a sometimes treat.

There is a cafeteria in Texas called Luby's. They make the most amazing Liver and Onions. Only place I'll eat it. I may have to go there tonight.

Liver and onions with spinach. I'll never be anemic! BF is also a fan. I was surprised when he ordered it at a diner.

lschweig if you are ever in the Kansas City area Go Chicken Go is a local cult favorite because of their chicken livers and gizzards and hot sauce.
They've been around for 40+ years.

It is REALLY good. Kind of lights you up and fades away fast.

I go to a fairly close Brown's Chicken in Aurora, IL as I used to work for Brown's Chicken many years ago. I even tell them how long to cook them for me!

Cheap box mac & cheese, cereal (Honey Bunches of Oats, Reeses, Corn Pops), and stew or chicken & dumplings with a few slices of buttered bread.
