Spaghetti and meatballs was the first thing I thought of.

    Then, in no particular order:

    Hamburgers
    Chili
    Pot roast
    Cheese omelets
    Potato salad
    Sausage and Peppers
    Italian hoagies
    Pizza

Your all gonna laugh at me as I delve into the most cliche comfort food Minnesota has to offer, But its gotta be...............TATOR TOT HOTDISH. But when the sun has been shrouded in clouds for months, its gets dark at 4 PM, doesn't get above 0 F for weeks at a time and everything is locked in ice....you live for stuff like this!

I have relatives in Minnesota so I agree and Swedish Meatballs are high on my list in that category.

Minnesota is famous or infamous (depends how you look at it) for their love of hot dishes as well as their jello salads.

Sounds like you have to stoop over to eat it.

            Sorry I could not resist.

My absolute favorite comfort food is Paul's Pot Pies from his store in Marietta, GA. They're to die for!

Spinaker - for me, great gravy should be very thick - almost thick enough to stand on it's own. And the darker the better. Beef is the best, but a good chicken grave is very close. I do love sausage gravy on biscuits with or without a nice fat sausage patty. I'm getting ready to make some breakfast sausage now - just waiting for the fresh pork belly to thaw so I will have enough fat to mix in with the butt.

Spinaker. I got banned when I fried bologna in one of her brand new expensive as hell stainless steel pans. It left a perfect bologna stain on the pan that didn't come out for a month Freaked me out when I did it so I gabbed another brand new expensive as hell stainless steel pan and tried it again and got the same result.
I still don't understand how it left a mark in those pans. Can't remember the brand they were but back in the day they were the cadillacs of the stainless steel pan world. I do my pan cooking outside on my cast iron over a gas ring. Cast iron does NOT mind frying bologna.

Pastys! Especially from a place by the name of "the Kaleva Cafe", in Hancock Mi. That was 25 yrs ago. I know the cafe is still there, don't know if the pastys are. After that, almost any UP pasty.

                    If no pastys then, CHEETOS.
