You're going to love that PBC, Suz BBQ Barnes ! As soon as I got mine, I tossed a chicken on it, following Noah's method on the PBC website video. Wow, was that ever a tasty bird! I've since tweaked my chicken cooking method on the PBC, but that first one was still a game changer.

Excellent move. When I got mine it was a game changer. With the help of the pit members, my BBQ went through the roof. But beware, you might find yourself buying all kinds of BBQ related gadgets and maybe even a smoker at the next level. I am guilty of both!! I own a KBQ, but I still use my PBC from time to time. The brisket that sucker kicks outs amazing. Plus the "almost" set and forget properties of the PBC make it an excellent cooker. I have also got two of my friends to buy into the PBC craze and they love it. Congrats on your new purchase, you won't be disappointed.
It is hard already to find good BBQ restaurant using my electric one! Mr. Meat gave me two of the best "tricks" for my lil lectric and I can even get a nice pink smoke ring on my brisket. That's why I am so excited about this PBC
Congrats! I don't own one but it's a very popular item on this site. I am sure you will love it.
I too have an electric (Bradley). The only thing it gets used for is for smoking canned tomatoes (used as a base for BBQ sauce) and for beef jerky. My kettle+ SnS and my 14.5 WSM handle everything else.
Scotch: Current favorite- The Arran (anything by them), Glenmorangie 12yr Lasanta, sherry cask finished. The Balvenie Double Wood, also like Oban 18yr, and The Glenlivet Nadurra (Oloroso sherry cask finished) among others. Neat please.

Congrats Suz BBQ Barnes ! I'll echo everyone else's sentiments by saying you'll love your first taste from it. The PBC is unique in that it's not a smoker per se, but a mean smoking-grilling-&-drip-sizzling machine! There will obviously be a learning curve compared to a dial on an electric- but never fear, the good folks here in The Pit have a vast wealth of know-how to get you cooking like a pro from the start.
You will love the PBC Suz BBQ Barnes . There is great support for it on this site so be sure and read up. The only other thing I will add is to download Meathead's Cooking Log. By filling it out and making notes on what you'd do differently next time you will progress in your cooking skills in a very short time. Good luck and have fun!
Totally agree with BigBear about logging cooks. Do it consistently and you'll end up with a fine reference library to look back on and extrapolate info from.
There are lots of great helps here. The PBC site also has lots of help. Don't get info overload. It is a simple Cooker that can be refined by the helps on this site. I would follow Noah's videos first. You have plenty of time to explore techniques.
Enjoy it's simplicities!
I ordered mine last night and will be home of Friday. I'm a newbie, and based on reviews and recommendations on this site, I figured it would be a great smoker to start out on. I'm really looking forward to using it.
