If there’s plenty of good charcoal left, which your pic shows you do, I shake the ash pan over a garbage can to release all the ash and smaller pieces. Then I put the remaining coals back into my charcoal caddy. This way, on my next cook I’ll have some brand new charcoal mixed in with the old.

What Panhead John said, although I just leave the coals in the charcoal pan since they aren't going to be sitting there for any length of time before I use them.

Leave them and set the Bronco up to grill something with the remaining fuel. But if you are going to do another long smoke, empty them into another cooker for later use. Using fresh coals for long smokes gives a little confidence when you hit a stall.
Remind me never to ask to borrow charcoal from Panhead John

DTro Even though I didn’t say it, I always use fresh coals for long cooks. And don’t worry, I wouldn’t loan you any of my charcoal. Last time I did you never paid me back. 😳 ðŸ¤
