In my never ending surfing of the internets.. I came across a Pid controller for the OKJ. While I haven't had any issues controlling temp, I know there are those that want the latest and greatest. The controller appears to be an Auber with zero bells and whistles, but I know at one point Auber controllers were a highly recommended item on this site.. It does appear you can use whatever fan/controller you want using just the adapter..

Jerod Broussard I have two that I use with my WSM XLs, so I am not dissing them. They work great, but they are just old with no blue tooth or wifi, so I would have assumed they would have been updated to current standards for new tech. Regardless, you can use any fan/controller your heart desires using just their adapter, which I think is a good thing.

If any interest, there's a nice entrepreneurial back story on this. It started on the Bronco Owners Group on FB. Somewhere a year or two ago some of the newbs were complaining about temp/fire management. This fellow, Mario Leal, has a 3D printer so he takes the initiative and works up a design, prints some parts, and offers them up on the group. Over time he's improved the design and expanded the fitments for the variety you see in that link. Of course there's a normal back and forth between the experienced fire management folk and the newbs, the first scoffing at the need, the latter feeling there's no way to live without one. But, like all outdoor cooking stuff, the past couple years have been a boom market so ol' Mario took advantage of good timing as well as his personal drive. I have no idea how much business he does, but he's talked about how busy it keeps him so it's not miniscule. Good story............well, to me anyway.

I have no problem with controlling the temp in my bronco, it's all about fire management. It will stay steady at 225 or I can open the vent a bit and bring it up to 275 to 300.

Northern lights smoke I am not having an issue either. However, I am mostly doing long smokes during the day, but I do enjoy my pellet smoker on overnight cooks so I can get some sleep.
