Current stock in our house is Molson Canadian, Budweiser, and PBR. Last week we also had Coors Banquet. Somehow, doesn’t matter what the brand is, the cans always end up empty.
Any time I run across Blatz or Schlitz I pick some up to keep on hand for when my cousin comes over. But he don’t come over much anymore…
I voted PBR. It is also great in a 16 ounce Tall Boy!

In my teens, don't ask how I got it. My friends father was a manager/superintendent of a small apartment building. Maybe 3 floors and 10 units per floor. We would get a 6 pack of Colt 45. We'd sit in the storage room and chug 3 a piece. Let's say we're were blasted. That stuff has a punch. Then we'd go hang out on the corner store and park across the street. The stories I could tell about that park. Named Hippie Haven. Late 60's and early 70s.

In jr. high my dad drank Blatz, he and my mom went out of town, I snagged a sixer and split it with a friend. Another friends mom offered to pick up beer for some of us kids(go figure),when I told her I wanted a six pack of Blatz she quizzically looked at me, "are you sure?"

Early 70's we would take a Schlitz TallBoy n with a church key punch three holes right next to each other on the bottom of the can, hold it upright and when you popped the top you could empty that can in a matter of seconds. Orig Shotgun before the cannabis pipe.

I know this is all in fun but it isn't apples to apples comparing a light beer with a regular beer, even if it is an American adjunct swill rice lager. That said I'll drink just about any of 'em, 'specially from your fridge.

I'm not really much of a beer drinker, so neither would be my choice. However, give me a nice cold Red Trolley Ale and I'm a happy camper.

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
I notice when I go to a liquor shop where beer is sold in, the coolers are in the back. Then you walk through the isles to get there. My observation, you always come to the real beer. Sam, Sierra Nevada to name a couple of mainstream respected brewers. You're have to if you want to go way to the end of the cooler to find what I'll call the sewer cooler. I also know who owns and where the beers I enjoy are brewed. Try to figure it out with Bud, Miller and Coors.
I'm not trying to start a controversy. My view of the facts.

Spelling isn't my strongest attribute. But knowing a well thought out brewed beer is something I take pride in. I'm not a beer snob. I have no desire for these beers. I certainly know they're popular and have a following. Drink on whatever you want.
My go to are Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams. I don't drink a lot of beer. Maybe a beer a day.
It's like when I drank burbon, I enjoyed the taste. A good beer is something to be enjoyed like a good burbon.

I voted neither. Honestly, though, if I were at someone's BBQ and they offered I would take one. I'd probably choose PBR if those were the only two options.
For me, with beer it tends to be the darker beers, Mexican and German mostly. I drink a fair amount of Negra Modelo and Dos Equis Amber. Right now I'm drinking a Smithwick's Irish Red Ale, I like Killian's Irish Red, too.
I've also found a nice dark German Dopplebock I like, called Spaten Optimator I've really enjoyed, as well.
Not much of a fan of IPAs.
I also like Guinness on tap, but when I lived in Ireland for a year, I liked Murphy's Stout better, but you almost can't ever find that here.

Between the two, and if I needed hydration, and if water weren't available, I'd choose PBR.
In my fridge right now is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Weihenstephaner Helles, and some Sierra Nevada Summerfest. What is lacking is craft beers that taste like Pine-Sol™.Last edited by Bkhuna; June 29, 2025, 09:38 AM.
