My brother is headed to Austin for a bachelor party and I am sure they will be looking for a good steakhouse and BBQ joint. Any places they have to try? Not sure if they will have a car but they can Uber if there is a place not too far that is a can’t miss type of place. Thank you

My wife took me on a trip to Austin a year ago. I would recommend, of course, La Barbecue and The Original Black's (I went to the one in Lockhart but I saw they have an Austin location). Also, not a typical bbq spot or steakhouse per se but as for a nice restaurant, I highly recommend, Hestia. It is a really nice restaurant that has a huge wood fire in the kitchen, they say every dish has some type of element that has been roasted/smoked/grilled on that wood fire. And if he ends up going there I cant recommend enough the sourdough buttermilk ice cream for dessert. I am not even a person that really likes sweets or desserts but my wife convinced me and it was excellent!

I haven't been in Austin in a couple years, but once upon a time Perry's Steakhouse was excellent (and pricey). Terry Black's BBQ is excellent, especially the beef ribs, which are true dino ribs. Lambert's is more of a table service kind of place, but the BBQ is pretty decent. There's always Franklins if you want to stand in line. And there's tons of great Tex-Mex around town, too. And a pretty good food truck scene, also

Awesome, don’t know why but didn’t even think Tex-Mex another great idea. The waiting in line with this group won’t fly I know my brother and his friends. I would wait for Franklins but they are special lol

Mad Scientist BBQ did a YouTube Video I watched last night on Terry Blacks BBQ.
Gave it rave reviews, credits Terry Blacks with starting his journey to perfecting perfect BBQ.

I have eaten at Franklin, La Barbecue, and Miclethwait's and they were all great. Would probably rank them in that order as well. At Franklin's tell them to grab a six pack or two and some lawn chairs and enjoy the waiting experience. I got there at 8 AM on a weekday and we were about 11th in line. Just sat with my friend and drank a couple morning beers and enjoyed the wait. Definitely worth it.
LeRoy and Lewis and Valentina's are the two place I want to try on my next trip to Austin.

If you're flying out -- you can hit SALT LICK BBQ at the Airport and grab one of their frozen briskets to go. They're all the same price, so feel free to grab the largest one you can pull out of the freezer. They'll pop it into a travel freezer bag.
Depending on where you're flying back to, it should stay perfectly fine for up to 4-ish hours of travel time back to your home freezer.
Or, just grab some fresh BBQ from the place and eat at the airport. Either way, it's win-win.

Other places to consider could be:- FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC
- OLAMAIE
- ODD DUCK
Might not be to everybody's fancy - especially for a bachelor party, but we've had samples from each of these and what we've had was pretty darn-tootin' tasty.
One thing that could be fun would be a speakeasy bar tour. Find the Firehouse Lounge hidden behind a bookcase, or DuMont's Down Low with over 70 different whiskeys

Do you like cream puffs? Try Beard Papa's. You can build your own. We went one evening about 8PM, but they were sold out. We have heard good things about the place.
