Many companies are updating their logo's. I do not care for most of them either nor this one however I do not know why this one is getting so much attention over the others? As long as they keep the food and old ambiance inside they can do whatever they want to appease the shareholders. New CEO's come into a lot of companies and feel they need to "refresh" their look.

I think that's part of the issue here. Cracker Barrel seems to be changing their menu and interior decor as well. Kind of abandoning their former base. Like a lot of folks here, we didn't really eat there enough to have much of a stake in what they're doing, and lately, I've given up eating out for the most part. Essentially, I'll be a bystander in this whole affair.

Yep, it’s not just the logo, which is bland as hell, they’re also getting rid of the ambiance inside the place. The whole premise of CB is the atmosphere of the place, kind of like stepping into an old time general store. Now they’re getting rid of that with the refresh…..no matter how the …. CEO tries to spin it.

Yep - she is taking "country store" off the sign AND out of the interior.

Found another new logo. Pretty sure this one would probably be their last logo update:

Ironically, that’s pretty much how I referred to it anyway. LOL
I think I’ve been twice, maybe as many as three times over the years… Not my thing. I’m not going to a restaurant to order meatloaf. And their breakfasts weren’t significantly different than what I could get at the hotels.

I know a lot of folks don't like Cracker Barrel or have not been in one, but for me - its something I ate mostly on road trips, since the 70's. And maybe a few times a year in town, if I was near an interstate exit with one. Mostly I would go for their breakfast, or the country fried steak (they never called it "chicken fried steak" to my recollection). My favorite side used to be their hash brown casserole.

The last year or two, the local Cracker Barrel has been understaffed and serving less than stellar food. And their hash brown casserole was not what it used to be for sure. But one we ate at in south Alabama on a road trip in June was great. So I think a lot of it has to do with staffing.

The last TWO times we tried to go to the local Cracker Barrel, the restaurant only had people in one side of the dining room, so more than 50% open tables, and I was told the wait was 30 minutes. We walked to a diner next door both times, and vowed not to bother with that location again.

For me, locations like Cracker Barrel are all about nostalgia and Americana - I liked to sit there looking at the random stuff, especially the old metal signs, that they collected at estate sales, which is my understanding of how they acquired all the old decor. The new look is like random decore from an Old Time Pottery or At Home, with reproductions or faux country decor. My wife would spend 30 minutes going through their store - before and after we ate - almost always buying something.

So by taking away the old man on the sign, and turning the interior into a sterilized environment they lose the personality that made me slightly forgiving if the food was hit or miss from time to time. If I want that kind of environment I would go to Star Bucks.

My wife and I just ate at a CB 2 days ago, Bay City MI. It was PACKED but we were seated in about 4 minutes. Our server was friendly, fast, and good and got a great tip.

They now have alcohol, so she & I shared some mimosas w/ breakfast. And they were good, not weak.

I love their biscuits, especially when they're fresh, man oh man good stuff. And I am a huge fan of biscuits & gravy, and eggs, and theirs have always been some of the best breakfasts in my opinion. I just love a place that can make a good breakfast and good fried chicken. Visiting a CB is like visiting grandma & grandpa's house. A modernization isn't too cool in my opinion but I don't have the right degree or glasses to make that call, so I've been spending my time not caring a lick about this, except for a couple minutes here to type this

But folks, please, let's keep the hot button images and obvious political references out of here. No need to rile up the masses so typical of other social media.

        Oh but what's this:
Restaurant chain Cracker Barrel abandons new logo following customer complaints and stock decline, restoring iconic "Old Timer" branding after removing Uncle Herschel.

EDIT, Didn't see Spinaker already posted it!

I want to point out that all the articles I saw this evening only say they are backing off of the LOGO change. I don't see anywhere that they announced they are canceling the horrible remodel plans. I think getting rid of all the memorabilia and white washing the walls is the issue in my mind, MORE than the logo itself.

100% agree. A brand change is more than a logo. Big mistake if they follow through.

Adding alcohol is a plus though, thats a change I can support... except that most CBs are situated to target travelers. Then again many are by hotels.

Because it is actually an extensive rebranding that involves changing the menu and atmosphere of the restaurants from a "country store" vibe to something more akin to IHOP or Star Bucks.

In all the follow up to reverting to the original logo there was a portion of the reporting that said the company had done a survey of customer satisfaction with Cracker Barrel. The top two complaints were poor food quality and lack of value. I would think that if your customers were telling you that you'd focus on what they are concerned about, not try to change your attire and pretend you've improved.

Makes me think of Buc-ee's business model. Take the existing business model of fuel stations/convenience stores and amp it up in a big way. Offer value priced fuel, easy access, clean restrooms (a biggy folks), and better quality food and convenience items. Seems like a better plan.

I saw on a YouTube video where the peg game maker started to supply his friend the founder of Cracker Barrel, the peg game with just a handshake. After a 50+ year arrangement, Cracker Barrel changed the wording on the game and had it made in China. The original game maker had to close his company due to the loss of business.
