Here We Go Again! 🙄 POLL

As some of you might have heard by now, the iconic restaurant chain Cracker Barrel, has changed their logo. For some reason, the CEO of Cracker Barrel has decided they needed to “refresh” the brand…. Not necessarily a bad thing in some cases, but sometimes you just don’t mess with a good thing! They’re also refreshing the restaurant interiors…and not for the better! Without getting political….didn’t the Bud Light and Jaguar fiascos teach them anything?!….The CEO of Cracker Barrel is Julie Masino. I think the glasses tell you everything you need to know…😂 In an interview she said the design change was “overwhelmingly positive”….Yeah, maybe from her fellow employees and her family. Apparently she's never heard of the internet. 🙄 Anyway, I’m curious as to what you guys think, like it? or No?

I think their stock performance since she took over says it all. Their most significant shareholders now are hedge funds like BlackRock and Vanguard, I believe, so none of this is a shock.

Dave, so we’re only allowed to complain about certain things in the world? Nobody said this was an earth shattering issue, if you don’t care about it don’t read the post.

At least they didn't start off the rebranded logo with "Yo,".

        1. I think when these corporations get into the mindset of trying to appease their investors with better dividends faster, all sorts of dumb ideas happen.

        2. Fresh ideas, that's what we need! Some people don't seem to get the historical association people have with brands, and just decide to change it, and see what the heck happens.

I can't imagine the amount of meetings, design workshops, approval processes, etc... this change had. Costing money, I'm sure that would've been better spent on other things.

Personal opinion? Reminds me of Golden Corral's old sign.

It seems most Cracker Barrel signs I see around here are small, hard to read, but distinct enough I know what it is.

My family doesn't like their food much (I used to like their chicken fried steak, but last time it chewed like leather), so we never go to there anymore, even though there's one about 2 miles from the house.

I agree with you about their chicken fried steak. A few years ago I ate at a Cracker Barrel and ordered their “country fried steak”. They no longer called it chicken fried! 🤷‍♂️ I was not impressed at all. Tasted like it was a frozen and pre breaded hunk of…something?!

Ah you're right, they do call it Country Fried Steak. Tells you how often I've thought about it since never going there again!

Didn't vote because I have no opinion on this. I don't eat at Cracker Barrel enough to say their food has gone downhill, but last time I ate at one--a couple years ago--I was not impressed, and I previously generally like the place.

I have never eaten at a Cracker Barrel but the old logo has some character the new one is plain and boring.

Wow. The redesign on the inside really killed the country down-home vibe. Even though we stopped eating there a few year back, I at least did like their ambiance. It looks like a fast food diner now.

            No Botox here……

Being from the corporate restaurant world, I know they decorated using “chain restaurants R us”.

Living in Chattanooga for 30+ years and traveling the southeast by car for both work and pleasure, Cracker Barrel was a great stop to eat and make a pit stop. Food was very good, bathrooms very clean and they were always very busy regardless of the time of day. I even carried a real paper map in my car with every Cracker Barrel location on it. They rented books on tape that you could return to any location and the rental ended up costing a $1.00 per tape. I ate there several times per month. I have not been to one in 2 years. I am saddened they are having issues.

Never eaten at a cracker barrel. But their Summer Sausage is served as an appetizer every year at my sister-in-law's before Christmas dinner.

It kills me when these so called business geniuses think that a new logo or redesign of their restaurants, stores, etc will revitalize their business. Perhaps offering a great product, at a fair price, with outstanding service would do the trick. 🤷‍♂️

I forgot to mention this in my post, but they’re redesigning the inside of the stores also. They’re losing the old country/rustic charm the stores used to have. Most everyone I’ve seen online hates it!

Probably eaten there twice. A country store and restaurant with fairly priced food. It is a unique interior by today's standards and it should stay that way for a different dining experience. I question the intelligence of this new breed of ceo's including the automotive. Remember Jaguar. They are so out of touch of reality and what is the issue if you've got a 20 million dollar golden parachute? Starbucks ceo lives in California, commutes to Seattle two or three days and week in the corporate jet. He has total use of the jet for whatever he wants to do. Signing bonus and golden parachute. That's why your coffee is 5 bucks.

Well, for those of you up north, it would be like the Bob Evan's restaurants I remember up there, that were the equivalent of Cracker Barrel, changing their menu to serve egg whites and avocado toast with tofu, and ditching everything else that led you go there in the first place while on the road.

I know that most of us don’t eat there on a regular basis, if at all, and that some of you don’t give a crap……but this is just another example of corporate stupidity. A CEO or “Marketing” genius comes in, totally out of touch with the real world, and proceeds to ruin an iconic or beloved brand. Trying to appeal to 5-10% of their customer base while ignoring the ones who got em to where they are today….

I don't have a strong opinion about, but I don't see the point. If they were going for the Temu version, they nailed it.

I haven't been to one in ages, but they have always been (to me) a predictable place to get food on the road. Somehow, though, this decision is screaming "Aunt Jemima" to me.

Coincidentally my wife just went on a 15 minute oratory about this exact subject as we were driving home earlier. It seems the busses that she takes on quilting trips stop at Cracker Barrel restaurants often. I’ve never been to one but she sees no reason to modify them at all. Oddly it turns out some of her favorite Christmas decorations came from the gift shops here. I don’t see this as a place younger people will flock to. Us old folks don’t like much change. +1 for PHJ

                Some additions for the poll:

O Great change. Everyone knows a CEO installed by venture capitalists will always have the best interest of their customers in mind.

                O I don’t give a pooh.
