I initially voted for the deep dish but after reading the comments, the fact that this is airport food does sway me towards the dog.

The new cats are now settled in (more or less). My wife loved the Chicago Dog....wants me to try to make one. (Urk....getting all of the authentic ingredients online is expensive.).
She also tried something else....apparently, Chicago is known for its popcorn, a delicious mix of caramel and cheese popcorn. She brought home a small bag for me. Tasty stuff!

I’m glad she enjoyed it. This thread includes all the ingredients and Portillo’s prep instructions: https://pitmaster.amazingribs.com/fo...de-chicago-dog

Michael_in_TX Was it garrets or nuts on Clark! Both are good, but garrets has the edge in my book.
And Portillo’s has a mail order kit. I’ve used it before they opened a location about 10 miles from me.

SheilaAnn It was indeed Garrets!

Chicago area resident weighing in here. Agree with others who recommend Frontera at ORD. If not in terminal 1, dog over deep dish.
If in the city, the choice between deep dish or dog is Italian beef, wet, with giardinera.
