Having eaten both at OHare I would recommend a dog. Neither was as amazing as a good place in the city, but for the money the dogs I had in the airport were closer (and easier to eat in a hurry). Haven't been through there in about 5 years so it's been a minute and the places may have changed or be different depending on the terminal. Actually, the more I think about it, I recall something being off with the pizza I think it was Rizzos or Regies or something.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
I echo this recommendation if she is flying United. I don't think anyone else flies out of Terminal 1 and the hike with cat carriers would be a bit of a pain if flying a different airline.
I have lived in Chicagoland for nearly 20 years. I’d go for the dog. You won’t find Vienna Beef outside of Chicago, and a great dog is easier to do even for an airport. I fly through ORD multiple times a year.
A lot will depend on the terminals you are in but I’d still bet finding a hot dog will be a better bet than hoping a slightly warmed over deep dish pizza is representing a true Chicago deep dish done well. In fact, I am pretty sure I ate the pizza last time and felt it was very meh.
STEbbq I've found 2 local hot dog places that proudly serve Vienna franks, Polish sausage's, and Ditka Hot Beef Polish Sausage. I wish I knew a few people would split the cost of a case of franks with me.

When I was still working, traveled weekly and went through O’Hare several times a month. The doggies were quick, easy to find, and almost always great. I would avoid the deep dish pizza. Nothing like the authentic Chicago style. BUT, if she has time, follow the advice above from Mosca

Michael_in_TX please know that Rick bayless is not a “Chicago Mexican food” chef. He is an accomplished chef passionate about regional Mexican cuisine who happens to live in Chicago and he started his empire there.

Where did this quote come from?
No, no, no, no........I could have framed that better.
My wife has no idea who Rich Bayless is, that was her response to me suggesting a "Mexican" restaurant in the Chicago airport.
