Good deal! I’ll be helping a friend cut off some panels, thankfully one of the sale sizes was the exact length my Dad needed to replace the grates on his Weber gas grill.

Thanks very much for sharing jfmorris. Been wanting to put a permanent set on my Weber Summit
gasser and this was a perfect opportunity!

I ordered 6 pieces. A great deal for $72, except it cost another $65 to ship to Canada. Oh well.

Received them today, wouldn’t have known they were seconds. Very Minor nicks and scratches, could have been easily been blamed on shipping.Great company! I’m using them right now!

jfmorris can you tell me about cutting these. I have some from my last gasser, and they are just a little too long, like 1/2 in. I think they are aluminum?

SierraBBQGuy Yes, the Grillgrates are aluminum.

My plan on cutting the ones I got for my son and future son in law (if they need cutting) is to get a non-ferrous metal blade and put it in my 10" miter saw. One like this:

            https://www.amazon.com/Concord-Blade...rous+saw+blade

You cannot cut steel with that blade - but most softer metals like aluminum are fine. One that cuts steel costs a good bit more.

Short of that find out if a friend has a metal cutting saw. I have a friend with a metal blade in his bandsaw, as he does a lot of metal work. I would not want to do it with a hacksaw, but that might be an option. Mark it, maybe put it in an old style miter box as a cutting guide, or even put a metal cutting blade in a 7 1/4" circular saw.

Jig or Sabre saw ain't too awful bad, either, specially fer makin radius cuts.

I received my order of 4 17.3 inch panels yesterday evening. Was very disappointed when I opened the package and discovered that all four were badly bent and dinged on the long edges. There is no way that they can be fit together in this condition. I'm hoping GrillGrates will allow me to return or exchange them even though they were seconds, but won't know until Monday when I can talk to their customer service folks.

This is especially disappointing because I have been a long-time user of their grates and was looking forward to replacing the grates on my Weber with them.

Yikes! On the one hand you expect damage, but on the other hand you still assume they'll be usable as far as connecting them as intended.

Their sale page said they had only cosmetic issues, so I would push them to take them back.

Well Jon Solberg I will have to say that I agree with you but they are a must when you enter SCA so that’s the only reason I bought them.

There seconds at a deep discount. Buyer beware...
                Yup, true dat. Caveat Emptor.

Yikes! On the one hand you expect damage, but on the other hand you still assume they'll be usable as far as connecting them as intended.
Yup, that's what I was hopin fer.

We'll see how this all goes...Mebbe all fixed up, mebbe sadder, but wiser. It's all good.

I ain't riled up at nobody, jus disappointed...

                16.25" x 6=A-OK
17.375" x 3= Total Fail, interlock impossible, completely unusable
18.25" x 6= 1 corner interlock dinger, will either be cut off, or utilized on outer edge.

Jon Solberg I have th utmost deep respect fer yer opinion, an I don't say that fer many that walk this Earth!

In my eyes, I reckon th best way to destroy em is cook on em til they expire...

Alternately, ya could send em to me, to replace my unusable 17.375"s

If consensus prevails t'wards a more demonstrative, destructive annhilation, then, please, Brother, shoot some vid fer us! I'm all in; usedta be my Job.

No grill marks fer me, here; I want th smooth side fer veggies, small stuff, vs usin mats or baskets, etc.
                  Worth a try, mebbe?

I truly do apologize if somehow I have offended or angered ya, Jon! That wasn't, an never will be my intent.

I rather gathered as much, an am deeply relieved.

Th rest, I unnerstand... my opinion on th situation would be baseless, an borne of ignorance, an inexperience, so I shall keep it mum.
                    Peace, brother!

Sounds like I better open my box of 6 16.25” panels in the garage and see if they are usable. Sorry some folks got bad panels. Hopefully they will make it right.

I went by what they claimed, which was minor consmetic issues only. Bent panels are not a simple cosmetic issue.

I just unboxed the 6 16.25" panels and 2 Grate tools I ordered to give to my son and future son-in-law, and all are in grate shape. Only minor scratches or nicks on the back sides of the panels. The tools have unstained wooden handles, unlike the two that came with my full price sets. All in all I think these will serve the purpose well for the boys.
