Glad you found something that works for you. These are always nice to have. There is nothing like a sharp knife to work with.

Very cool. You can't screw up sharpening with that.

My social media is flooded w ads for this guy. Kinda looks cool but I’ve got a powerhouse electric sharpener that works great. Anyone have one of these? Called the Wasabi knife sharpener.

Looks like a lansky sharpening system to me. I have 2. What I used until I got my worksharp

Looks pretty easy and simple - but for a hundred bucks, I don't think it's all that special. I like the idea, I can make my own.

I got one of these today for the RV. Was thinking no electricity and small package would be better than my Chefschoice electric. So instructions say put the knife flat on the table top…..but then a steak knife is below the edge of the Tumbler mount……so I improvised with my calibrated eyeball and mounted it higher on the magnetic holder 🤓. ran it on the diamond roller one minute a side and then the deburr side. I tried it on an unsuspecting tomato slicing thin, WOW 😁, then I gave it a tougher job on an artichoke stalk, went right through it. I’m sold, it’s a keeper.

smokenoob i had a hunch, I was super impressed with a set of Zwilling knives that I used at a AirBNB not that long ago. Just with the steel they had there they took an incredible edge. Nice knives!!! 🔪🔪🔪🔥🔥🐿️

MsTwiggy Lucky you! Every AirBnB I stayed at had Walmart knives that wouldn’t cut a potato! We bring our own knives now.

I always bring my own knife 🔪 when traveling to an Airbnb. Typical just a chef's knife.

If you end up returning the rolling sharpener, I will make a pitch for the sharpener I got a couple of years ago when Worksharp was offering a Pitmaster club discount - the Ken Onion Angle Set sharpener. What I like about it is it all folds up into a nice little box that easily fits in a drawer. Was in the kitchen, currently living in the top drawer of my rolling toolbox in the garage.

If you can hold a knife vertical, you can use this to easily sharpen with 2 different diamond grits and 1 ceramic grit at angles of 15, 17.5, 20, 22.5 and 25 degrees. It also includes a tapered ceramic rod for honing serrations. I go over the main kitchen knives about once a year with it, and sharpen my EDC - a Kershaw Leek - every month or so with it.

I got it as I wanted something economical that didn't use a lot of space. And the lower cost electric sharpeners usually only offered a single angle, and I knew I wanted more than one set angle in a sharpener.

GolfGeezer you will like it. It takes a couple of minutes per knife to restore a really good edge. Most of the time, 10 passes on each side of the blade at all 3 grit levels does the trick. And I have the satisfaction of knowing I am sharpening my Ken Onion designed Kershaw Leek with a Ken Onion designed Worksharp sharpener, haha!

RlsRls most western kitchen knives come from the factory with a 20 degree edge angle. You see 15 degrees mostly in Asian knife styles.

RlsRls Jim is correct. I have both German and Japanese knives …. German ones are at 20 degree and Japanese are 15 degree. AND the Edge Pro can help you figure it out. You put some blue painters tape on the knife, set the angle, and then make a swipe …. If you are taking off tape or not taking off tape tells you if you have the right angle set.

RlsRls usually you can Google it. For example, the 15°/20° guideline is generally correct, but Google tells me that Zwillings/Henckels are 15°. Some others are 17°. (Chicago Cutlery are 13°, which is why they seem so sharp out of the box.) That number is each side. 15° is 15°+15° for an aggregate blade angle of 30°.
