IME, it takes less than 15 minutes in the cradle for an RFX probe to charge. There's a red light at the top end of the cradle that flashes while the probe is charging. When it's maxed out, the flashing stops.Originally posted by DogFaced PonySoldier View PostOR, how LONG does it take for the charging cradle to fully charge, is there any kind of indicator to let you know if the cradle is 'maxxed out' on charge, etc.?

I've enjoyed the RTX. Got mine right before Thanksgiving and have used it maybe a dozen times since on the grill, PBC and oven. Works great!
I managed to ruin one if the probes yesterday. I was searing a tomahawk ribeye and walked away from the grill to help my granddaughter get some juice. Priorities. As you can envision, huge flare up and the grill got super hot and smoked one of the probes. The meat came out great but the probe, not so much.

Oh no.... a glory-filled death, to be sure, but still sad. Dang, sorry, man.

Hmm. Thermoworks says "the handle withstands temperatures up to 1,000°F". I doubt you got that hot. You may want to see if they will warranty it. Their customer support is great. Woops, looks like Thermoworks already took care of you....

I have a follow up. I posted a message on their site to share my experience and to warn others about my error. They are sending me a replacement at no charge. I made sure they understood that I wasn't looking for something free for my obvious error. Jodi in Customer Service insisted.
Customer service above and beyond. Another reason to like Thermoworks!
