I use my BBQ Guru CyberQ Cloud on almost every cook on my Kamado. I often confirm with my Thermapen. I also use my IR gun for the griddle and for a lot of indoor cooks as well. The Thermapen shows up with some baking, too.

I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.

Current line-up of cookers: Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Pro, Masterbuilt Gravity Series 1050, Blackstone ProSeries 4 Burner 36" griddle, Weber Performer Deluxe and Weber Smokey Joe.
Thermapen MK4, IR gun (for the griddle) and Maverick XR-50. I keep hoping the XR-50 will die soon so I can justify to myself the need to get the SnS-500, but it just keeps on trucking.

I had been using the Maverick XR-50 but recently got a Smoke X4 which I am using most of the time now. I will likely try my Thermoworks Dot this weekend.
My Thermopen Mk4 also receives a lot of use both at the smoker and in the kitchen.

Thermopen One I have commandeered from my daughter. Bought it for her when she started school but its just too big for her chefs coat. ( Im told I can give it back in about 10 days). It is the only thing Im using. Bought the SNS-500 but still undecided if ill even open it or not.

Well, there sure are times a leave in thermometer or grate probe thermometer are useful. I.e. to let you know what temp you are cooking at, and when the meat is done without having to constantly open the cooker (losing heat) to check it with the Thermapen...

jfmorris I know you are right. Just having trouble committing to a learning curve with the kettles. Ive been cooking with the Weber kettles for 40+ years. Doing 12-16 hour brisket and butts for 20+. I can and have done it in my sleep. I think it would be different if I were learning a completely new platform but Im a big “ If its not broke , don’t fix it” kinda guy so the motivation is a bit waning.

What's to learn, haha. I used to just open my offset every 30 minutes the last couple of hours of a cook to check on butts and such. However, each time I do that it adds time to the cook. Even if you know where your pit runs and don't need to monitor it, its nice to know what's going on with the hunk of beef/pork, without having to guess at it. Every butt/brisket is a bit different. Knowing where it is also lets me decide to change vents to get it done quicker/slower too.

Retired, living in Western Mass. Enjoy music, cooking and my family.
Current cookers Weber Spirit 3 burner with a full insert griddle added. A 22" Kettle with vortex, SnS and a Smokey Joe. The most recent addition is a Pit Barrel Jr with bird hanger, 4 hooks and cover. ThermoWorks Smoke 2 probe, DOT, 2 ThermoPops and a Thermapen MK4. A Thermoworks RFX Gateway 2 probe meat thermometer.
All of them, Smoke, DOT, MK4, Thermopop depending on thecook. And now I'm leaning toward the TempSpike along with a grill grate probe to compare ambient temperature. MK4 to compare finished temperature of the cook.

Cooking gadgets
Weber Summit Charcoal Grill Center
Weber Summit Platinum D6
Blue Rhino Razor
Dyna-Glo XL Premium Dual Chamber
Camp Chef Somerset IV along with their Artisan Pizza Oven 90
Anova WiFi
Thermometers
Thermapen Mk4 - ThermaQ High Temp Kit - ThermaQ Meathead Kit - ThermaQ WiFi - ThermoWorks IR-GUN-S - ThermoWorks Signals & Billows - ThermoPop -ThermoWorks ProNeedle - ThermoWorks TimeStick Trio x2 - and a Christopher Kimball timer - NO, I do not work for ThermoWorks...I just like their products.
Other useful bits...
KitchenAid 7-qt Pro Line stand mixer
A Black & Decker food processor that I can't seem to murder
A couple of immersion blenders, one a "consumer" model & the other a "high end" Italian thing. Yes, the Italian one is a bit better, but only marginally
Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus 8-qt + accessories like egg-bite & egg holders
All-Clad pots & pans, along with some cast iron...everything from 7" Skookie pans to 8.5qt Dutch ovens
Weber GBS griddle, pizza stone, and wok
Knives range from Mercer to F. Dick to "You spent how much for one knife? One knife?!" LOL
Thermapen One or any of the Mk IVs that I have get used pretty much every time I cook. I also have a ThermoWorks Pro Needle that solves the chef coat issue. (Since replaced by the Exec series I believe.) But seeing as I don’t need the coat all that often these days…that one mostly stays in the bag.
