Without even trying I had to put one in my cart. Does anyone have one of these, are they as good as the suggest? https://www.fireboard.com/shop/fireboard-spark/

Do you already have a Thermapen? I also don’t remember, did you upgrade your Signals already to a FB2 Drive? I think I remember you at least wanting too.
I have passed so far. I have the FB2 Drive and a Thermapen one already. I rarely run with just one probe, so the value I see in it is having a remote display sitting out somewhere that would save me the strenuous action of getting my phone out of my pocket to look at temps. If I didn’t have a Thermapen for instant read, I’d probably want it.
I know at least a couple people here have them. I think ItsAllGoneToTheDogs and maybe ecowper.
It might depend on your use case to determine how worth it the purchase would be in the end.Last edited by glitchy; April 16, 2022, 09:01 AM.

I have not upgraded to the thermo pen, I was going to just keep the thermo pop. But the idea of setting the temp of a grill with the lead, then disconnecting and moving to a hand held. It’s like s blue tooth dot and a thermopen one, combined.
-
Richard Chrz I personally don’t miss carrying a receiver around, However, there are times it could be nice having a remote display sitting in the kitchen always on. For your use case, you might really like it. It looks solid on its own and has nice integrations with the regular Fireboards. I also have a drawer full of bbq temp devices and am trying to refrain some too since I pre-ordered the new Combustion Inc. device.

I don't have the spark, it doesn't make sense for my needs which is why I recently picked up a TP1. But I do have the Fireboard 2 Pro and use it fairly often.

glitchy yeah and I did the pro for the k-probes so between the MAK and the Fireboard I have 6 probe options, and a consolidated probe selection

If I had a FireBoard and did not have a high end instant read thermometer, I would get a Spark for sure.

I wonder if the Fireboard Spark would be okay for my wife using as a candy thermometer? Putting the spark probe in 360° sugar from
room temperature (FAST SWING IN TEMP) seems would be really hard on it and damage it. Sugar will form into a HARD shell on the tip of the probe though with hot running water sugar would dissolve away from the probe.Last edited by Ghawtho; October 8, 2022, 02:55 PM.

Ghawtho I would trust my spark in that scenario.

I have one on the way. I also ordered a guru pit viper fan port for my 22 Weber. So now all three will be set up if wanted, for my pit viper, or my billows,Last edited by Richard Chrz; April 16, 2022, 12:49 PM.

I have a Spark and like it alot. Sort of a swiss army knife of thermometers. Has several modes- using a probe, an external sensor and WiFi to connect with a Fireboard system. Negatives? A little larger and heavier than other thermometers and a menuing system that takes some getting used to to even turn off. But it's well build, has a great display and the company is very responsive. For me, the best part is another way to access their wonderful app when used as a single probe connected thermometer.

I have one as well, got it a couple of months ago. Need it? No, but I like it. Really, if you have any of the ThermoWorks temp probes, the Spark does not bring that much more to the party. But, I like it, particularly as it syncs with my FireBoard 2 so the readings are integrated in the App.
EDIT: To clarify a bit, I meant if you have ThermoWorks in addition to the larger Fireboard (or equivalent), the Spark does not bring much more to the table. The integration of the Spark's readings into the other FB's cloud-based tracking is very nice. For example, in a recent beef rib smoke that I did after upgrading my MAK's firmware, I used the remote probe portion to check temps in various parts of the MAK while having 1 ambient probe in the FB2. Then I also used it to probe part of the Spark to check the ribs for "doneness". Convenient, although I could have done the same with my existing devices.Last edited by GolfGeezer; April 16, 2022, 02:58 PM.

Smoked a 14 pound briskit on my Yoder last night beginning at 9pm. Put the Spark on my night table, turned the brightness to low, and it displayed the pit and meat temps throughout the night, automatically connecting to my Fireboard 1 monitoring the temps. This is just one mode for the Spark and it's one of my favorites.

FireBoard just upgraded the Spark with a software update. Adds three features: (1) displays up to 6 channels simultaneously on the display instead of one at a time. (2) displays a graph of temp vs time on the display when used with oa connected thermal probe. (3) power savings improvements
It's all listed below. To upgrade turn on and be sure WiFi is on and plug in a USB-C power cable. Update happens automatically.
